Re: Favorite Disneyland Mountain attraction and why

BTMRR!!! I loved the original Frontierland, way back when it had burro rides, stagecoach rides, covered wagons, a fort, and an Indian village. BTMRR's theme, venue, a whole new world, the painted desert, and the roller coaster, that crazy goat, all add up to Disney gold. It's the closest thing to the old Frontierland, along with the best of the new, and I can't wait to see how they've improved it.

BTMRR especially at night is everything I love about DL. A special shout out to Space Mt Paris - the most terrifying ride in any Disney park that I am aware of

I agree, Love the Matterhorn but they sure screwed up the seating!!!!!
And they screwed up the seating on Splash, when they changed out the logs to attempt to be able to seat 2 in the back seat, (which caused it's own problems) - the current logs have since been always a wetter ride, than the previous logs. I HATE the new Logs !!!

Space Mountain because it's in the dark and you don't know what's coming.

There should be a sticky thread called "This Day in Disney History." The company has a long history and this would be a good way to acknowledge it. Walt was born 112 years ago; that's quite a chunk of American history and culture.

    BLAH.

    Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain...???

Thunder Mountain for dynamite goat, Space Mountain for space float. *slapped for lame joke*

Not talking about WDW's Space Mountain though... That thing nearly snapped my neck in half!

I'll say Thunder Mountain though, it really completes the Frontier Land experience... and that train scream/whistle ALWAYS sends chills down my spine!!
    Geeze, I miss it.

Re: Favorite Disneyland Mountain attraction and why

Splash Mountain has long been my favorite for reasons already mentioned. It takes a classic Disney animated film (granted few of us have actually seen the film, but still) and puts it in an attraction that is a combination dark and thrill ride. For first time riders it's full of surprises. For example the middle drop is awesome because it's a double surprise - 1st surprise is you don't expect it because it's dark and the 2nd surprise is it ascends. I love that the final drop is not actually the climax of the attraction, it's the big steamboat scene which the first time riding it was so unexpected.
Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.
