I'm glad you took the time to enjoy them. Not many people notice them.

If they haven't created a school in the 40-50 years they've been there, I'm guessing it won't ever happen.

I had forgotten they had been there for years, then around 2010 my boyfriend and I discovered them again. We stood there watching and saying, "Wait, is that a real fish?" HA HA! It's now a running joke around here...."Are those fish real?" I love the little details around the park.

A nice leftover from the long forgotten Mine Train Through Natures Wonderland. I always stop to look for them. They need to do more with that nice stretch of 'wilderness.'

I've always thought they need to do more unexpected, unfeatured animatronics like the fish, and the queen in the second floor window in FL. There are a lot of good windows in NOS or the HM. Tom Sawyer's Island has places, and there are plenty of woody areas for characters like Bambi & Thumper, etc.

We were just discussing this the other day. Do Bambi & Thumper appear anywhere at all in DL?

Since I have been looking for this fish for decades - where exactly is it located? In the pond west of the walkway going around BTMRR where the mine train cavern now resides, or on the east side of the walkway near the BTMRR waterfall and the tracks enter the cave?

I have to admit, I stood there a moment before I was certain ;-)

I do love the small things probably few people notice
I can imagine the fun of, "let's put this here"

I know there are times, or have been a period, they were not leaping...
it is the kind of thing you'd notice...

Errata: Pretty sure those aren't Animatronics - Water submersion and complex gear don't mix very well, especially not for 50-plus years...

Look to be water powered, probably from the filter pump return line. If anything is powered, it's a simple 60-second countdown timer (motor and cam, or electronic) and a solenoid valve up on the bank that can keep pulsing for decades.

For what it's worth, the spoilerific (assuming a decades old effect off the side of a path could be "spoiled") youtube run:
