    Re: Hollywood And Dine

I had Chinese food once at DCA. Not that I think about it, it might have been at Hollywood and Dine since I hear it was a scatteteria. I thought I had eaten it at the Lucky Fortune Cookery on the wharf, but I've since seen that was just a quick window service place, and I distincly recall eating Chinese at DCA in a scatteteria.
Nevertheless, I remember being highly displeased with the chinese food. Not sure where the rest of you are getting your praise from, but when I had chinese at DCA it was horrid. But to each his own

We ate there once. The Chinese food was really bad, much worse than mall Chinese food. I was going to say atrocious, but it wasn't quite that horrible. But it was pretty bad. And there was very little seating inside, and the outdoor seating was uncovered. I like the futuristic mural and have spent some time looking at all the stuff. We were in there a couple years ago for a private party, and that was fun. I'd love for it to reopen as a regular dining place, but can we have real food this time, please?

I thought it looked cool inside.

    The pizza was decent.

I so so so agree with this!
We ate there our first trip to DCA, but it wasn't memorable.

I agree with the sandwiches. They were one of the best things I have ever had at the Resort. This was one very unhappy person when they closed just because of how much I liked them

"Scatteteria" unfortunately makes me think of... well, scat. Not the most appetizing thought.

(For the uninitiated, "scat" is another term for "poo" and is usually used by naturalists in identifying animals and their eating habits.)

Exactly! Turn the place in to the Sci-Fi Drive In like Disney Studios has. They could even extend the building out so the drive in facade is in front of it.

I'm really dissapointed I never got any photos of the interior, I really enjoied the time capsule of the individual sets and the memorabilia...I hope there's some way they find to re use the stuff in some cool way. Where else in the world could you get a taste of the glamour that was the golden era of Hollywood?

We used to eat there quite often. Thought the food was good and I loved that it was almost ALWAYS empty.

I liked Hollywood and Dine, too. It had more of a variety
than anyother fastfood windows or other scattertias.
It certainly wasn't as confusing as some of the other scatterias
in DL or DCA. It was rather dark inside, and looked unfinished,
parr for the course for DCA tee hee hee.

I also liked Hollywood and Dine. I thought the atmosphere was fun, and they gave you lots of french fries!

But ugh, I would rather it stay a special event area than see the Sci-Fi Drive-in put there. NO MORE CLONES!

I believe they closed it because there wasn't enough people coming in. Its a shame, it would be the best place now because of tower and monsters being there. Now there isnt enough food places in DCA Hollywood.

That's exactly why I liked it. It was quiet and out of the way. I never had to wait for food and there were plenty of tables, all indoors. The variety of food was far better than other restaurant in the park.

There aren't enough sit-down restaurants in DCA as it is. It's a shame they closed it. "Taste Pilot Grill" is the closest now and it isn't very large or quiet.

Normally I would plead for the management to reopen it but it hasn't worked in the past.

LOL this is the first time I have ever heard the term Scatterteria!
OK now that the elementary school moment has passed... Sci-Fi Dine In would be HOT there. It is almost liek they have a small bit of the theme going now. They car witht he creature in front of the Dinner facade. Would be logical. The only food area in Hollywood Dsitrict is Award Weiners. Menu looks good but not a big fan of hot dogs. Ever since teh Soap Opera Bistro went I am at a loss for dinning in DCA. Pacific Wharf is nice but its kinda quick service style.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^
That car with the gorilla from space was removed.

Too bad, but I'm fine with it. It was a fabulous non sequitor, with that area being absolutely deserted and an alien ape "stealing" that cassic car with a bored CM standing beside it selling drinks to absoloutely no one. It was almost surreal. There was a fake news radio thing playing to, wasn't there? It said something about a mad gorilla from space on a rampage.

There is a truck parked back where the grand theft ape used to be that sells sandwhiches, so award wieners is not the only food location in HPB. I believe it's called "Between Takes," or at least that's what it was called before placemaking.
