    March 2014 photos/video and observations.

Basically, what the title says. Will type more later on various topics/observations, but first big thing is, I feel badly for families with kids who are dying to meet Anna and Elsa (or anyone who does, really) getting to Disneyland at park opening at 10 and finding a three and a half hour line to do so. It's insane, and doubtless weeds out/prevents some young guests from doing so who were set on it. Logistically not much can do to fix that given popularity plus desire for the characters to give a solid bit of interaction with each group once arrive, but still, yikes. Crowds are heavier than expected given the weekdays and time of year as many have observed, without getting into theories as to why (and trust me, I have theories on that). Onwards to some photos!

It's a funny comment, but a true one. When you pay such a high price for admission and there are large crowds, you tend to spend most of your time between rides hustling to the next ride. I myself don't take the time to admire the architecture, or even the general scenery for that matter unless I'm waiting in line and it's in my view. You can probably spend a whole day at DL and just walking around and admiring the scenery. If money wasn't a factor, I'd probably do that. Actually, if I lived closer and had an annual pass, I'd probably do that from time to time.

Something you should definitely do which I didn't know was there until this trip - if at all interested in the subject matter of stage illusions or theatrical history or etc, do listen to the recording of the actual Harry Houdini giving a lecture inside the Main Street Magic shop, recorded by Thomas Edison in the early years of the phonograph recording technology. It's fascinating to hear the man's voice, and very rare.

Dinner at the Napa Rose - bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin stuffed with parsnips, chestnuts and a honeyed thyme broth. Really was delicious.

Warm truffle chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream.

The best-themed store in DCA, I think - Rushin' River Outfitters.

Absolutely beautiful pictures. They remind me of photos from those souvenir books I used to get as a kid back in the 90s.

Just when you think there aren't any hidden goodies left to discover... thanks for the tip!

Thanks for another round of great pics.

I love the little popcorn crankers but I've never seen that Yeti one. Where is he? Fantasyland?

That popcorn cart faces the walkway to Small World...near the permanent turkey leg/corn on the cob stand, across from the Matterhorn.

WOW! Those are beautiful photos! What kind of camera do you have? Anytime I try to take "nice" pics at the park, w/ my generic Sony Cybershot, they don't come out nearly as well. These pics make me feel like I'm right in front of these places and I can practically touch it.

    And my goodness, that
bacon-wrapped tenderloin even makes a vegetarian's mouth water! I also agree w/ you about Rushin' Rivers Outfitters. It makes me want to go camping. I love that whole area of DCA especially when someone's singing or playing an instrument right outside.

I'm definitely w/ those of you who said they could spend a whole day just walking around. What could
be my favorite thing about Disneyland is that no matter how many times I go, I tend to either notice something or experience something I never have before. I love Disney's attention to detail!

Too cool. I'll definitely catch that on my next trip.

Also, a confession: I don't think I've ever been in Rushin' River Outfitters!
