It wouldn't have to be an expansion of FrontierLand. It could very easily serve as a FantasyLand expansion. A modified version of WDW's, if you will. This would serve the purpose of allowing for an E-Ticket as well as have enough spare space to offer some more attractions better suited for younger children.
Strongly disagree about using that space for more Fantasy Land. There's a very important backstage road in the way and Frontier Land needs another attraction. I'm still hoping the consider the new motion base boat ride system for that location. This could make for a ride that has some thrills and is still pretty family friendly.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

Just double-checked a recent satellite image and wow, Frontierland has a lot more space than I thought. You could easily fit a dark ride where Nature's Wonderland/the animatronic fish is. Big Thunder Ranch can easily fit something huge without evicting the Native American village although evicting Native Americans is unfortunately appropriate for Frontierland

The trickiest part of a Fantasyland expansion would be maneuvering around the railroad, the Fantasyland theatre and the backstage tunnel to Circle D Ranch. Another challenge would be effectively transitioning from the European theming of Fantasyland to the American Southwest and Mississippi/Missouri River theming of Frontierland. It's not like one bank of the river could be the Rhine and another riverbank the Colorado River without being super tacky.

This is where Imagineering comes into play. They have more than enough room to expand. It's up to them to make it work. Still, it's pretty fun to think about what could be done with the space.
