Super Guys Really Do "Go To Disneyland"

Anyone else catch Diane Pucin's piece with Steve Young in the LA Times sports section today?
It was about his experience being Super Bowl MVP in 1995 (in the 49ers 5th Super win), and getting paid 15-hundred bucks for saying...I'm going to Disneyland...then, I presume, I'm going to Disney World...
He says, in essence, that he didn't realize, at the time, that he was going to Disneyland - the next day. He brought Jerry Rice with him...and he talks about riding in the parade, and realizing that Mickey Mouse is always the star at DL...and about an encounter with two kids at the end of the parade...(Big brother says to little brother...those two big guys won't let anybody bother you...paraphrasing).
    Article (requiring free registration)
    http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...adlines-sports
Who'll be saying it after this Sunday's game? Likely candidates...Ben Roethlisberger, Jerome Bettis, Matt Hasselbeck or Shawn Alexander.
Less likely candidate (win or lose) Joey Porter of the Steelers...ooh, will he be motivated to hit me when he reads this...(LOL)
Other thoughts about who will be "going to Disneyland"?

    Steve Young!

I thought that they did away with that a year or two back?
    Good morning, son

Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed

I knew you'd feel the same things...

ya know. I used to sell hay products to Steve Young when he played for BYU and also lived on a ranch.

    AND I've been to Disneyland.

Steve Young and I have sooo much in common.

They didn't do it last year, apparently the PR dept. wanted to spend millions on other advertising for Disneylands 50th, and WDW trying to pretend it is having a birthday.

It will be back, and in a big way this year. Something about it being projected onto the side of a building downtown Detroit, yeah, its gonna be pretty sweet to see Alexander saying that... so cool.

How About Troy Palomalu, with his "Parade Of Hair" down Main Street come Monday?

PS...Steve Young works for Disney now...(ESPN)

A little side note to this thread. They always have the MVP of the Superbowl say the line but, a few years ago when the Ravens won the Superbowl and Ray Lewis was named MVP. They had Trent Dilfer say it because Ray Ray was on trail for being an accessory to a murder. GO STEELERS!!!!

Ok, so... I thought it was going to be back... I anxiously awaited it after the game. And.... nothing
dbc said that the MVP mouthed 'i'm going to Disneyland" (I missed it) but that's not the same thing...

    What happened?

Re: Super Guys Really Do "Go To Disneyland"

Ray Lewis not saying it wasn't the first time the MVP missed out, nor the last.

Jerry Rice was MVP of Super Bowl XXIII, but Joe Montana got to say the line. This is one of the reasons that Young shared his line with Rice after Super Bowl XXIX.

Other MVPs that didn't make the trip since the ad's inception (and who went instead):

Super Bowl XXX MVP Larry Brown (Emmitt Smith)
Super Bowl XXXII MVP Terrell Davis (John Elway. Like Young, Elway shared the trip with Davis when Elway won the MVP for Super Bowl XXXIII)
Super Bowl XXXVII MVP Dexter Jackson (Jon Gruden and Brad Johnson)
Super Bowl XXXIX MVP Deion Branch (No ad this year)

And RE: this year - apparently Hines Ward got the ad, and he says: "I'm going to Disney World - and I'm taking the Bus." I haven't seen it yet, though.

Anyone know where I can see it?
When did they show it? Not right after the game?

I don't know if they showed it right after the game, but they've been showing it on ABC every chance they get since then.

Click here to see the commercial (both WDW & DL version)

Re: Super Guys Really Do "Go To Disneyland"

I could be wrong, but I don't recall ever seeing the spots "right after the game"...I'd usually see them the next day. I saw the Hines Ward/Jerome Bettis one (for WDW) on ESPN yesterday (Monday). He also did a DL one...but I haven't seen it yet...haven't been watching the local LA channels much. Update...just saw it on the link provided above...thanks askmike1!!!

    Barry

PS...Indeed, as a tagline at the end of the spot, Ward and Jerome Bettis are on camera, with Ward's line about taking "The Bus"...(very cool)
Bettis, by the way, making a return trip to the city (Anaheim) where he started his NFL career...probably my last Los Angeles Rams favorite...

I think we are twinners. Listen to this:

Ya know, my sister used to have the fattest crush on Steve Young when she attended BYU (although she was in Hawaii).

AND I go to Disneyland almost every week.

    It's uncanny.
