Actually, they carved out a piece of Frontierland to create NOS (if memory serves me correct).

Nope, it's its own land. The rides that fall under this land are Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and of course Disneyland Railroad

Definitely Fantasyland for me. Too many good childhood memories are tied up with the places it depicts for any other land to win out. If I could live in any part of the parks, it would be there.

    Re: Your Favorite "Land"?

Tough one, but I think I'd have to agree with many others and say Adventureland. The whole west side of the park, really, but I don't think you can beat the combination of Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Indy, and Tarzan's Treehouse, combined with the atmosphere of the land, including the Bazaar, Bengal Barbeque, and the Dole Whip Floats!
A very close runner up would be New Orleans Square, the atmosphere is almost equally as awesome, it does have the two big powerhouse classics of Pirates and HM (and used to have the Disney Gallery, which I wish was still up there), and of course some great restaurants including Blue Bayou which many could argue is the best restaurant in all of DL.

Before the closure of the Court of Angels, it would have been NOS. Now, I'd say it's Frontierland because the open spaces and Rivers of America. It's very low key and I like that. Had you asked this question before 1992, I would have said Tomorrowland :-)

At Disneyland in California, no. However, Tokyo Disneyland has a New Orleans area with POTC, but it is part of Adventureland.

You're correct, a good part of NOS came from real estate that was once Frontierland, but they did shift the Disneyland Railroad tracks westward in order to accomodate the rest of the land (original train station was back more towards the river, in line almost with the present day entrance to the HM. The Indian Village, Frontierland Railroad Station, and Southern Plantation Chicken Restaurant (interestingly not part of NOS as it was gone after NOS was completed) were the only things in that part of Frontierland,if I remember correctly.
"Hello folks, welcome aboard the Disneyland Railroad..."
"The Gods have been angered by all the celebratin'..."
