I'm sure you're a much better person than all of us celebrity-obsessed photo hounds. Good job.

And did you seriously just imply that soldiers have died so these celebrities have the right to go out unphotographed? Because that implication is appalling to me, and I think it really belittles the work that those honest and brave citizens are doing.

Yeah, that must keep our soldiers motivated!

I think a reality check is in order...

I'd rather shake the hand of a military person and thank them for their service any day of the week than some over-paid, pretty faced celebrity out there.

    But hey, that's just me...

First and foremost, I apologise if what I said offended anyone. It may have been taken out of context. It was my way of putting a little extra zing on my take on rights of Americans as well. Meaning, as one of those rights, that everyone whether they're celebrities or not, have the freedom to walk in any amusement park, enjoy the time spent with their families, and have their privacy respected by others and not have their picture taken, and not have to ask that it not be done, just hoping that others would show them that courtesy, in the case of celebrities that is.

Edited to add: And I also edited the post in question.

Actually, celebrities don't have a right not be photographed in public. At Disneyland, it would be Disney's call as to what/whom you're allowed to photograph.

I'd hope guests would still be courteous, though.

Well I still feel differently, though I'm done arguing or debating this. None of us need the drama on here. And so moving on......

How can a full quote that stands on its own be taken out of context?

Oh well I'm guilty I took a photo of Dog the Bounty Hunter a couple day ago at DCA.
I didnt make it obvisous but if people do they do, thats what being a celebrity is all about. You want that job you have to accept what comes with it. They are celebrities because of US the FANS.

I remember seeing Michael Clark Duncan at the park a few years ago. He's a big guy so he kind of stood out. I also saw Ryan Stiles filming some tv promo show for DCA back before it opened.

The only "rights" a celeb or public person has at Disneyland is to have a nice day just like everyone else. You are perfectly fine to take a discreet picture from a distance, or to say "Hi" in a normal manner.

You do NOT necessarily have the right to rush up and start gushing all over their feet about their last movie, or insisting on autographs and posed pictures, or that they send you a signed glossy... Unless the Celeb initiates it.

Trust me, they know how to initiate a Fan Rush when they want to, it's almost like switching on a lightbulb. I've stood there outside the door and had a normal conversation with a normal Daddy watching his (daughter, IIRC) at Dance Class with my little sister. And yes, I knew who it was, but we were just "a Daddy" and "a Kid" talking....

Somebody comes up and gushes "Hi, Tim!" and he turns it on... He straightens up, sucks in his gut and throws back the shoulders, puts on the 10KW Smile - and now it isn't Daddy for a little while, it's Tim Conway, Super Star.

Five minutes later he switched it right back off, and Insta Daddy again. Spooky...

They do it under controlled circumstances - and having a day at Disneyland with friends and family is normally NOT one of those times. When they are there for an arranged Meet and Greet and Autograph Session, then (and only then) it is truly 'Open Season' to go gush all over them.

Unfortunately, too many fanatics will ruin that little bit of semi-private time they get at the drop of a hat, so the Guide escorts and a Security person or two are a necessary evil in some cases.

Yesterday, I walked past Phil Lewis, from Disney Channel, in Fantasyland while exiting Princess Fantasy Faire.

I agree with you Bruce. The only time it's o k to ask for an autograph and piture is when they are at Disneyland for an autograph signing, like a book, CD, etc.... That way, they are working and getting paid for it. When they are vacationing, they having Family Time and not working.

I agree too. Not too long ago Owen Wilson was in our health food store here in Maui and everyone acted totally casual about it. I was really proud of us. We acted like we see celebrities in paradise all the time, lol. It's like, whatever... it's Maui.

I feel like they give so much of themselves already, that it would be rude of me to ruin an expirience for them.

Jenna Elfman is here at the park right now with her hubby, a Plaid, and about 15 friends/family.

I have seen a lot of celebrities, not too many at DL, but here and there, especially when we lived in the Burbank/Studio City area. I usually leave them alone. But if their children are with them then it's definitely a no-go. However, I agree that part of being a celebrity is having people take your picture or stare or ask for an autograph. It's the downside to what is usually a life filled with privilege.
As far as whether they have a right to not be photographed, they do not. Nor do you and I. If you are a frequent guest at DL, do you have any idea how many people's photos you are probably in? And legally, celebrities and politicians actually have fewer rights to privacy as far as photos go, because they intentionally put themselves in the public eye.
And let's be honest, most celebrities can go incognito if they wish, simply by dressing normally and not surrounding themselves with an entourage.

I saw Wee Man getting on Big Thunder Mountain on Wednesday night (July 29, 2009), around 10 PM. He had a big grin and kindly posed for a photo shoot with me and my sister.

Today, I saw Tim Burton walking near BTMRR with some family and 2 or 3 plaids. It was the first I've ever seen any real "celebrity", it was exciting. I would have loved to say hi, but I didnt want to bother the guy.
