Overnight at Disneyland. Rocking, Something, Something.

For my daughter and me, this was a dream come true. (Boy, that sounds cliché, but it really was.) To be able to be at Disneyland all night was something we've wanted to do forever. So obviously, we were pretty excited when the time came. We had work and school first, but were on our way. We were worried about the park hitting capacity before we got there, but actually the crowds weren't too bad. In fact, when we arrived at 1 p.m., we just walked right in.
Full of energy and ready to go.

Samantha didn't like when I screamed "We made it!" on Main Street.
After a quick Tomorrowland lunch since we were starving, it was off to the Western side of the park.
The river boat just looked perfect docked like that, and set the scene for a perfect Disneyland visit.

Then it was on to Pirates of the Carribean as our first official attraction.

And we continued onto Haunted Mansion.

Samantha looked pretty energetic there, but that energy would be challenged as the day progressed.

One nice thing about knowing we'd have a full 17 hours was we didn't feel rushed. So we slowed down and enjoyed a leisurely pace. She tried her hand at the shooting gallery.

We also headed over to Tom Sawyer Island, which we rarely do. But since we had the time, why not?

Later on, we started getting tired.

Inspired by Kelly's famous selfies, I gave it a try. With my daughter's help, I was moderately successful. I'll attribute my appearance on my fatigue level.

This photo isn't out of focus. We got so tired we were really blurry.

After Small World, we waited for the parade, and I was totally out of energy.

(guard your eyes from the paleness!)

    More to follow.

    Ha!! Nice.

I'd love to do a father daughter trip with just the two of us as we are kindred spirits. Nice TR so far!!!

Try as I may, I can't work in a trip to DLR even though I'm going to be spending 2 out of 4 weeks in SD in June.

    And we continue:

A quick dinner at Zocalo will recharge the batteries!

    "Not while I'm eating, Dad!"

Of course EVERYBODY is interested in what I eat!

I spent more than an hour driving to get to Disneyland in the first place, but Samantha STILL wanted to do Autopia. So here's proof that I spoil my children.

Spun around a few times on the Carousel

Tried -and failed to pull the sword from the stone.

Eventually, Samantha's energy level was starting to wane.

So, maybe a snack will perk her up. Salt and caffeine!

    That did the trick!

Finally it was 1:30 am, and time for our little Micechat meetup!
I didn't recognize Joe at first, since he was wearing a mask.

    Kelly was very heroic-looking.

The original idea was to meet up for a half-hour or so, then part ways, but we had such a good time chatting it up, that we stuck together for another 5 hours and hit some attractions together.

By this time it was almost 6 am, the sun was coming up, and it was time to part ways.

Those good Disney folk lined up Main Street for our goodbye high fours.

    Goodbye, Walt, and thanks!

    Epilogue:
Samantha and I finally made our way to IHOP for some breakfast before heading to my brother's place in Irvine for some rest. Here is where it finally hit me that the girl was a little tuckered out.

One more to add that Samantha took:
Us entering Haunted Mansion. This turned out to be our last ride of the event, but what a good one to end on!

Safe was nice. We drove down to my brother's place in Irvine and arrived about 7 am. We went right to bed. We woke up later. I'm thinking it may be as late as 10 or so. It was freaking 1:30 in the afternoon!
You've got to understand, I never sleep past 8, even on weekends. So I guess I really was tired!

That's funny! I exited the park at 5:59 and walked in my door at 6:24...not bad at all! I didn't get up until 4, but I'm used to sleeping during the day, plus it puts me on schedule for work tomorrow night!

I offered to take her down to ride the ponies at Griffith Park that go around in a circle, but that's not good enough any more!
