Today was another disney trip with my niece, just two days since our last one. Today was much different...she was in a good mood but I got frustrated by so many things! I really tried to focus on the happy moments, and there were plenty of those too....
After a delayed start due to car trouble (which made us miss Cruella, which might be the last time in a long while that we would have seen my niece's special friend) we headed up Main Street, by horse drawn carriage of course, and then did Dumbo and Carousel. The first time it struck me that it was grad nights was when 4 girls started switching horses as the ride was going. After one warning, they stopped the ride, escorted that party off, then had to recheck belts and restart the ride. They were giving each other high fives on the way out. I though they should have been booted from the park, or at least their chaperone contacted....
Anyway, aren't these the cutest girls ever!
I split from my friend and her daughter to try to catch the 1pm hook and Ladder show but saw Perla out with the Fairy Godmother so I grabs my niece and ran over to the line! We got in just in time and were the last group that Perla was meeting, so not only did we get to meet a new character, Sarah got to walk with her!
We rushed back to Town Square only to discover Cruella was in fact not there, so I took the chance to talk to a CM about the impending character departures and she said the Queen would be "temporarily" gone for the summer and Aurora would be meeting out at the well. Seriously? Don't they have a fancy, new meet and greet area for Princesses? If any princess were to meet there, shouldn't it be Snow? Sure, it's Aurora's castle, but it's Snow's (and/or the Queen's) well. Plus, why would you put the one princess with the outdated dress outside? Is it because of the Maleficient movie? If so, why not bring out the named character herself???? Ok, ending rant...
It was finally time for lunch and I thought we'd head to Cafe Orleans for some Pomme Frites only to find that there was a 45 minute wait at 2pm! Yeah, the 2 year old is certainly not going to wait that long! My next option was a bread bowl but Royal Street Veranda had a good 25-30 people in line (and 5 more grads joined their party in front of us as we were waiting so I tried my luck at Harbor Galley and there was NO line! No table to eat at, but no line either. Another rant...it bugs me so bad when people who have no intention of eating, or eating disney food, take up tables! I can't hold the plate and a 2 year old, and feed us both, especially with one bad hand/wrist. Thankfully a table did clear out, but there were two tables, one a middle aged couple with their feet up and shoes off another was a mom with a couple of kids. /rant
Also, what is with the extended Pirates line??? It stretched 3/4 of the way to HM before twisting back then over the bridge and into the main queue. It totally blocked the walkway from Royal Street to ROA.
We decided to head out and catch Mickey and the Magical Map, as she adores it.."Mickey, show, Mickey, show!" Unfortunately, we got there toward the end of the princess song, and they no longer seat people past midway through the song. Why do they do that? There's not another show for 2 hours and there are PLENTY of empty seats...what gives? Last week we walked in at the beginning of the princess segment and they seated people at least through the song.... And it's not like it's broadway and they wait to seat people, nope, you are free to go in at any point until they cut it off completely. /rant, again... it was not fun to drag my niece away from that!
So we walked back up toward the castle, my niece squealed when she saw Perla out again so we hopped in line, again with perfect timing, because while they finished meeting a few groups ahead of us, the took a final quick pic with the group in front of us and Perla recognized Sarah and grabbed her hand again and she got to walk with both FG and Perla!
She loves the drinking fountains by the Plaza Inn where the characters go in and out so after playing with that we were walking out and the Queen walked out! Sarah squealed and pointed so she grabbed her hand and we walked back out to the castle! Two security guards right along the parade route laughed that she must be having a great day!
She may not be our "usual" Queen but she was SO fantastic with Sarah.
She hid her in her cape/sleeves
And even approved of Sarah's Villain face!
So we headed in the direction of the exit, stopped at city hall to express our outrage with taking away these characters (and not getting a villain night like WDW!) and left great feedback for the Queen. We ran into the Queen one last time at the main gait and this selfie shows our feelings about her departure!
Overall, I am so glad my niece had such great interactions with characters that are soon to be gone, but it felt so crowded, and my niece got nearly ran over so many times, I got bumped constantly (and I have a bad wrist, good think I had my TENS and brace on!) and it just didn't feel the same. Maybe the fact that we are losing Sarah's favorite part of the parks was weighing on me, maybe the pain in my wrist was adding to it (cortisone shot yesterday....not fun!) but I was really contemplating on if I'm going to want to renew my pass or not. I thankfully have until September to decide, but if it's trending in the same direction, I may not, especially with my niece hitting 3 years old half way through... Either way, it makes me sad, and disneyland should make you happy!
