We went to the resort on Sat, the first day of Summer & the longest day of the year, so we decided to do an afternoon/evening trip and got into the parks about 5:00pm. It wasn't crowded at all, so that made for a nice evening.
We started at California Adventure for a cup of Starbucks before going to check out the new improvements on Little Mermaid. Grizzly River was still not running yet, but there was water in the flumes.
The new lighting and extra fish added here and there are fantastic. The Under the Sea room is amazing. It has that classic Disney dark ride feel now.
We went to Soaring next and were surprised to see no line outside, But they only had 1 theater working so the wait was 1hr 15mins. They must have had the line snaking around inside. We went to Mike & Sully to the rescue instead. No line, walk right on. I have only been on this ride once before, but it's becoming a favorite. Love the "doors" scene.
After a quick trip thru Muppet Labs and a few shops, we headed over to Disneyland, and got there just as the Parade was starting.
Next on the journey was Indiana Jones. The wait was only posted as 10min, but of course like clockwork, the ride broke down halfway thru the line. We waited it out, wasn't too long. Almost every effect looked like it was working. The doors were opening, both snakes were breathing green smoke on the bridge and the rolling ball worked perfect!
Pirates was next. about a 10 min wait. It looks like all the animatronic figures are back and working.
We then hopped on the train at New Orleans station to get to main street in time for the fireworks. It was a great show. No one does fireworks like Disney!
Then we made our way thru the crush of guests leaving the park, on our way the BTMRR. The new effects in the final lift hill are really great, and it seems to me, that if you are in about row 6, you get the best parts of the effect. I've gone a few times and sat front, back etc. But row 6 always looks the best to me. Then it was Peter Pan, with a 20min wait, Small World with no wait, but we got stuck in the exit, so we had to endure the music..over, and over.
A nice 11:45 meal from the Jolly Holiday rounded out the evening, as we watched the diminishing crowds exit down Main Street. In all, a great night at the resort.
