I think that we should all go with the only logical explanation. This is clearly a reference to 2112.

There are the Tarot cards in Madame Leota's room and her seance in the Haunted Mansion, and in New Orleans Square there is one balcony that has voodoo objects. Those are the two I can think of off the top of my head that might be considered occult to some.

The emblem is from the Star Stoneware company, Crooksville, Ohio that made jugs like this from 1892-1945

Its not technically a pentagram since it has a circle in the center instead of a pentagon. The number indicates the gallons it holds.

Before it went down for refurbishment/covered with tarps for Club 33 work, the former voodoo balcony had all the props removed basically, which I was sad to see. Hope they come back.

Meh. Obviously it's graffiti and/or someone idea of a joke. Since I don't believe any of it - good or bad - has any real power or meaning beyond what our vivid human imaginations can conjure up I'm not going to boil over with anxiety. Just clean it off.

See above. It's not graffiti, it's the logo from the company that makes the jug.

ORDDU: For the record, I never concluded what it actually was--but merely mentioned a possibility. No stretch involved.

Stripped of the speculative parts, it IS a kinda neat find under "things Imagineering put in that are more or less the actual item and not a prop"

    Re: Pentagram On Splash Mountain?

I could only get through the first and second page of this thread before I skipped to the end. Yikes. I have noticed this on Splash Mountain many, many times. It doesn't look like something someone drew on with a pen - it looks like it has always been there. Take a close look next time any of you ride it. It's on the right hand side of the second lift hill.

I feel like most of the people in this thread aren't really sure of what a pentagon actually is. People are talking about the Devil and evil spirits - but that is when the star is upside down, and the two of the points are pointing upwards. That isn't the case here.

I am agreeing with Malina and Rob F on this one.

Pentagrams associated with Wicca (a peaceful, earth-based religion) have the point facing up. Those associated with Satanism (not so peaceful) have the point facing down. Wicca is not "sick," nor is it associated with devil worship. Still, it doesn't belong at DL, nor does any graffiti.

    Re: Pentagram On Splash Mountain?

Not cool to have grafitti but the pentacle (the star inside a circle) is a symbol that I believe was initially used in Christian sects, when the religion was new. It's since gone over to being used by Wiccans, pagans, and various derivations. I've worn one myself.

I've heard tell the upside down variant is satanic, though I've never seen anything in the real world (and I've met some strange people). And pentagram is just a five sided figure, for the record.
I pledge allegiance to the Earth, one planet, many gods, and to the universe in which she spins.
