    Smile Legends of Frontierland ARG

Thought I would start a thread for people to discuss their experiences with the Legends of Frontierland (LOF) in Disneyland. I left the park yesterday so was not able to participate for today's launch, but learned that it is much more in depth then I thought. There will even be a Charm Drink that can help you get out of jail and different types of river water for challenges. I wonder though if the "bits" stay chips or fools gold, what will stop people from just keeping them as souvenirs and not redeeming them. Looking forward to playing the game a couple days, when I'm back in a week and a half, and hope to see some photos and experiences of people who are playing.

Also apparently the game does not reset, and people will be able to continually references other character names and purchases throughout the duration of the game.

Anyway I am looking forward to it, and like I said on Twitter this morning.

"Keep a real sharp hunter's eye. Time to take back our land from the Baxter's! #MyRainbowRidge
"I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing ... That it was all started by a mouse ... and inspired by a rabbit."

I won't be heading to Disneyland until November, but I am pretty interested in hearing how this turns out. So if anyone does participate let us know!

I'll be there Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works, even if I don't participate myself.

    Re: Legends of Frontierland ARG

I really wish I was there right now. Just heard it is only running through Labor Day from a CM.

Im checking out pix's on twitter and it looks like they are using little wooden poker chips (That say Western Territories) as the "bits", and some really aged cards for the "High Card" game.

Below is the How To Play sections of the handout

    1. Pick Up A Name Badge
Visit and town locale to create your own western nickname.

    2. Choose A Side
As your pick up a name badge let us know if you are from Frontierland or Rainbow Ridge.

    3. Answer a Want Ad
Use the ads on the map to locate places that need your help.

    4. Earn Bits
Think of these as points you can redeem for more game play.

    ---------

    Rules to Live By

    -Be Respectful
    -Use Rock/Paper/Scissors to solve disputes
-Be _____ of others and their property
-No need to climb or crawl
-Always play on the marked paths
-Always travel at a leisurely stroll
-Call, "Time Out" to take a break
    -Call, "Time In" to resume

    Looks like the Ads include:
Talent Wanted at Miss Rode Talent Agency (Golden Horseshoe)
    Play Cards
    Messengers Needed (Telegraph Agency)
    Deputies Needed
    Purchase Land

    This is looking really cool

Does anyone know what time(s) of day this is running for? Does it continue into the evening/night or is it something that can only be experienced during the day?

@AZImmortal, from what I understand it starts at 11AM each day and concludes at 6PM each day.

    Re: Legends of Frontierland ARG

Just got home and my friend and I had a blast. The time went by so fast from carrying out missions for Red, Willum, and Ged. By now if you have played you can guess that my friend I chose the side of the Rainbow Ridgers. Myself I was of course the famous One-Eyed Bart and my friend being my partner in "crime" or do I mean work yeah let's stick to work was One-Eyed Betty. We quickly started getting pretty famous running information back and forward from Red one of the Rainbow Riders who runs the High card game and some of the so call dirty work hehe. Eventually Willum and Ged had to run some errands and left Betty and I to hold down the Hideout and we both got to work quickly converting Frontiers to Rainbow Ridgers and recruiting new members. This quickly spread around town which later became my downfall and became a wanted man with a wanted poster, which later landed me in jail after loosing a challenge. Later Betty and I after returning from lunch earned enough Bits to purchase a piece of land before we had to call it a day. I really enjoyed Lof can't wait to go sometime next week and continue playing. I hope that the Rainbow Ridegers grow and eventually make a presence seeing that there was a large amount of Frontiers compared to Rainbow Ridgers.
Lastly from what CM's were saying that this will run everyday, not Wednesday and Thursday like first stated from 11am-6pm. If you are going to play come in with a open mind and enjoy the fun and ability to create and play a totally different version of yourself or character. My friend and I were talking to complete strangers and helping out plenty of the new players to the game by answering questions and telling them what there is to do. For first day results I see the telegrams place being where everyone is making their bits but for Rainbow Ridgers you have to be creative on how you make your bits like asking the Big three Ridgers what they need help in on getting info about what's going on in town or convincing the trading post people that someone sent you to collect some bits, Myself and Betty even escorted one of the small members of the Ridgers to get his bots and he gave us a cut of his earnings.

With the game continuing on over multiple days/ visits, this is clearly designated by Disney to assist in the AP overcrowding issue (and probably to occupy the social clubs as well). Hopefully it works.

Since the mining thing wasn't working, I wonder how that will work. Also can you only repurchase other peoples buildings, or also their land claims? If once you buy a land claim and it can never be repurchased it means only about 130 individual claims are available, and I am guessing you can buy more then one as long as you have enough "bits".

Does anyone know if there is any special merchandise for the game, or the rumored beverages that actually impact gameplay?

Sounds like this is 100% NOT for you if you're not up for interacting with strangers at the park. Good to know.
Credibility is to be sought for. Credulity is not. Sadly the latter is our normal human state.

I was thinking I'd have to be on the Frontierland team. Classic Disneyland is not to be invaded by upstarts.

    Re: Legends of Frontierland ARG

So I got back from playing just a plain 2 hours on Frontierland side and there is a lot of fun and playing with complete strangers seems to be fun. I am holding onto my 32 bits (non-computer joke) I earned through out the day. The fastest way I earned the bits was with playing High Cards. Some of the Problems I experienced with that the rules on High Cards changed base on the CM stationed at the table and playing High Cards was hard to do during a show and hearing announcements in the Golden Horseshoe was extremely difficult. Also CM who were managing the game were in plain clothing and without their CM badge on. They had the stickers on and were stationed at Kiosk locations. Also is it just me or is Rainbow Ridge just little lopsided with being only on location?

@figge411 Great video, looks like your group had fun.

I've seen some pictures of fool's gold. The mine part of the game may have been active yesterday? Im guessing you get this if you've purchased a mine, and bring the deed to the telegraph office, where it is "surveyed" and if they find gold you get the pieces? Does anyone know if the fool's gold serves any purpose, like a higher value "bit"?

Also what are the rules for the High Card game? Is it blind betting ( you don't get to see you cards), or more of a Roll Your Own style, where you can arrange your cards and show a high card one at a time with multiple rounds of betting?

I'll be playing for the first couple hours of the game on the 21st and the full game-time on the 22nd, if any other Rainbow Ridgers would like to join.
