So... the pics of the main dinning room of C33 are out....

And most people are complaining about the tile on the floor... only its NOT tile... its inlaid exotic (presumably) wood.

While the old parquet wasn't in the greatest of shape, it was pretty decent. Not sure if I like this new look or not as its quite busy, but I'll have to dine there and give you a first-person impression... one of these days.

I thought the major complaint was the fact that they took out the fireplace. Although the floor does look like something from the Gibson Girl, and as mentioned in a now closed thread the place does look like a cafeteria.

Not a fan of the flooring, it makes the room look tacky. Also not a fan of the chairs which look like they just came out of a really dated restaurant!

I thought the point of Club 33 was to be secretive and private.
I wish Frozen would have never been made.

That's kinda the point. It's supposed to be period.

Private except for the couple thousand members (and all their free passes).

I am referring to the massive, wide open windows so people from the outside can look in.

Plaza Inn looks more elegant than C33 now.

Yeah but those chairs look extremely cheap, like I think my grandma has those chairs in her house. For a club that only the elites can afford, you'd think that they would choose higher end seats.

I understood what you meant. Sorry my response wasn't clear. The reason I said that is because of the fact that they simply have so many members and folks with access now compared to Walt's day that they really didn't have much choice but to do an expansion. I totally agree that the expansion killed the privacy, but I don't think it was avoidable given the user base.

It's finally to the point where the Club is nothing like it was originally conceived. It is simply a members only cash grab for the rich and famous. Only there are so many more now compared to the 60's.

The windows are evidently getting a coating so outsiders can't see inside.

Yeah, Club 33 has been more "secretive and private" than actually secretive and private for awhile.

That said, I don't think this is it as far as the design goes. For example, I could see some drapes going up in that dining room, and a ton more exterior work done, as I imagine they focused on the interior work more so that they could get the Club back up and running then would return to the exterior at a later date.

Great. Not only are the windows oversized, but they are something that would look more in place on a 20th/21st office building than on something to represent the past in New Orleans.

While I'm sure the parquet flooring is lovely in person, from afar it does look like those black and white vinyl tiles used just about everywhere. I do not mind the wood and rattan chairs, as they are a piece of furniture that can be classic when done right. The dining room actually reminds me of a dining room aboard the Titanic. While it's not extremely opulent, it does have a good balance of light and dark and a nice contrast of patterns with the flooring and chair upholstery. I need a comparison photo, but I remember it being a lot more fancy than this. I could see this being more appropriate if they had a dining room that was in a sun room or patio area.

Given the window shape and light fixture, this seems to be the "offcenter" window as viewed from the outside. I'd say it is offcenter outside to be on-center inside.
