    Question DTD questions..

so I'm gonna be down in the area on the 4th-5th of next month to meet Grumpy Cat. we've decided to take a second day to wander DTD. (if we can get tickets into the park we will, but unlikely at this point) we're just going to wander the area, check out the shops and such. i've never really had time to just look around, and my friend has never been to DTD. any suggestions for things to check out? i'm thinking about going to studio disney 365, he wants to check out the lego store, and we're thinking about checking out some of the hotel restaurants.

any ideas to have fun? i'm thinking about trader sam's (never been there before). it's a one day thing, but we're from sacramento and don't get down there much...

    thanks everyone!

Wander into the hotels, especially GC and look around. There's some great places for coffee or light meals at a reasonable cost.
Have a libation at Trader Sams if your so inclined!

Downtown Disney, the extra free day!!!!
    1) Sit on the fountains and listen to the music.
    2) Explore the area around the Tram Loading with all the bright orange colors
    3) Ride the Tram
    4) Check out each hotel lobby for bits of history and how they function differently.
    5) Trader Sams for sure, nice theme and outdoors.
    6) Explore the display windows of stores.
    7) Explore each restaurant lobby.
    8) Take in a movie ( I am infrequent visitor, so have not watched a movie.
    9) What is the color theme of the floral beds, perhaps only seen in the summer.

    Christmas:
with the popularity of Frozen, hopefully they will bring back the ice rink.
listen for carolers in the lobby.
    explore the holiday decor.

If you're architecturally-inclined, it's fun to notice the various themes of DTD. It has 4 different "lands" I believe (architecturally speaking) in addition to the specialty buildings like Ranforest Cafe.

You'll be able to lap DTD a few times. Take a look at all the stores and try to stop in the specialty ones (Wonderground, D Street, etc). Also:

    - Go to the Disneyland Hotel, and check out the lobbies of each tower. Specifically the Frontier Tower.
    - Experience Trader Sam's

Check the House of Blues calendar. Some big names show up there occasionally, if live music is your thing.

Haagen Dazs makes a mean chocolate/peanut butter shake. Perfect for a hot day (which it likely will be).

ESPN Zone makes the best chicken tenders I've ever had. Ask for their BBQ sauce. Addictive!

Trader Sam's is a definite must do! And sit IN the bar, not outside. Sometimes they have live music that is chill, but inside is a much more energetic atmosphere. If you have the time and money make a reservation for Goofy's Kitchen! It is a character dining experience in the Disneyland Hotel. It's a buffet and they always have good food and you get to meet all sorts of characters. So if you don't have time to actually do DL you still get a taste of it!
If I could pick one Disney charater I'm most like, it would be Cinderella. I love to clean and I have an obssesion with shoes!

Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. Live (jazz/blues) music usually starts downstairs by the bar and dining area around 6 PM.

If you go to Trader Sams, order a Krakatoa Punch - trust me the show is worth it.

    Re: DTD questions..

My go-to places when it comes to Downtown Disney are limited, but what I always do is:

    • Wander around the massive World of Disney store. It's crowded but they have a lot of cool merch that you can't always find everywhere else.
    • Grab a snack at Wetzel's Pretzels because I don't have one where I live.
    • Eat at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen because I love the food and the atmosphere. A lot of the time they will have live music during dinner service.
    • Sit outside of the Rainforest Cafe and people watch for a while.

If I meet up with my cousins we will usually walk up and down the stretch once or twice and see if we are interested in anything. If I go with my mom she always drags me into the Fossil store so she can look at bags. I like popping into Quicksilver every once in a while but that's only if I am looking to buy some new clothes. We don't have a Quicksilver where I live, either.
The only thing I can think of that I absolutely refuse to do inside DTD is the Rainforest Cafe. It's always crowded, the wait is always an hour or more, and the food isn't that great. The service is slow, too.
Please... put Guardians of the Galaxy in Tomorrowland.
