Talking What do you do to get pumped when it's almost time for a Disneyland trip

We all have our little traditions, I was wondering what some of yours are. My main one is a day or so before my trip, I keep whistling "Yo ho, a pirates life for me" to myself to get in the spirit of things.
    "Have I gone mad?"
"I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are. "

We leave at the end of next week. I'm already listening (and singing to) my Disney CDs. BFF & I are texting & emailing our "Ooh, ooh we gotta ______________" & our "'Member last time we________________, let's do it again!" messages. The suitcase is getting packed and I'm counting the days!!!

"I'm (already) too excited to sleep!!"
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

It is the remembrance of good trips from the past for us. Also, my son starts asking us things like "If you were at Disneyland right now, what three rides would you go on and what would you have for dessert?"

I used to stay up fairly late the night before watching my old "Vault Disney" recordings on VHS (remember that?)

Primarily the episodes of "Disneyland" where Walt was building up to opening day by showing us what we'd see in the park.
"The old man's gonna knock on the sky. Listen to the sound."

    AP'er since 2004. Yup.....I'm one of THEM.

Re: What do you do to get pumped when it's almost time for a Disneyland trip

I was raised in San Diego so I spent a good portion of my childhood at DL. I raised my daughter in Nevada, but we took her to DL every two years (my husband hates the lines and it was like pulling teeth to get him to go). With that being said, we took a 10 year break after she turned 17. We only went once for her 21st (and DL's 50th) birthday. In 2012 we decided to do a mom/daughter vacation to DL. We thought it would be fun to try things we've never tried before and to go on rides we never rode. This is our tradition now. We will be making our 4th trip together in November and we are already planning on new things to try. Also, we have quite a collection of ears and clothing prepared for our next journey. Pins, too. Oh my!

Pull out all of the old Disneyland vintage guides and slowly glance at the photos, images of a park long gone. Take notes on a 4x6 card of details that I should pay attention, for who knows when refurb will change the character of an attraction.

Clear off the dining room table of the seasonal display.

I sort out the granola bars , M&m bags, MIP ponchos that I picked up at garage sales and sanitary wipes that i excessively gathered from the Indian Casino.

I spread out the note cards that have been scribbled on with the 3 days of touring every 15mins. I edit, shuffle around and then using a pen, print out the master plan for each day on each a 3x5 note card. Twice. copy for the pack, copy for the wallet.

credit cards, Atm cards, cash. Three wallets.

For sure I am a square though my wife calls it more of a rectangle type of guy.

Perhaps, but I , years older but not short on dreams, am returning to Disneyland, AGAIN!!

Re: What do you do to get pumped when it's almost time for a Disneyland trip

I usually keep a countdown on my phone and check it every day and tell the people im going with how many days till we go, pretty much every day (two months exactly until the next trip)

When I was a kid I remember I could never sleep the night before we were going to Disneyland so I would always stay up and plan out which rides we would go on!

"Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They're people who don't give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought - sometimes it isn't much, either." - Walt Disney

Look at/read my trip reports and start burning CDs of Disney music for the drive (yes, I own one of those vehicles which was produced LONG before auxiliary inputs became practice)

Countdown on the phone, talk about what we'll do, what we'll eat, start to look at what clothes to bring, make sure the Mickey ears are ready to be packed, glance online at pins available and make a plan...and spend more time than usual on Micechat.

AHHHH!! We'll be there in 9 days!!!!!

I don't have to ANYTHING to get pumped... If anything I need something to slow me down.

The week before a disneyland trip I usually look out for snacks to pack for when we are in the parks, listen to ride audio or park music on youtube whenever im on my computer or make mix cd's for the car ride there.
