    Disneyland Pickle for Politeness

I was scrolling Pinterest last night and saw one of those articles about hidden secrets at Disneyland. I know a lot of them are now myths (Like yelling "Andy's Coming!" at the toy story characters) but there was one I hadn't seen before.

It said if you go to any pickle-selling concession stand and ask the Cast Member how their day is going, you'll get a free pickle.

Is there any truth to this? I'm guessing that it's another myth that's been circulated but I'm sure there's an ODV CM that would know

I am very skeptical of this claim.

Not to mention, the only information I can find online about this is from Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Pintrest which are far from reliable sources. Also the fact that you mentioned there are other "secrets" on there that have been proven false leads me to believe that this too will fall in that category.

Not only it's more than likely not true due to the source, but "how's your day going" is such a vague and common thing to say, that I would imagine if that was true (which I doubt) that CMs would be giving free pickles left and right.

I imagine the provenance of this (if it has any origin other than being flat out invented) may be that it happened once, to one person, who spread it as if it were some secret-phrase thing to do rather than a one off in the moment magic that happened specifically between the one CM and the one guest.

It would be really sad if this was true. Are people who act kind to CMs so rare that CMs started giving free pickles to those who asked how their day was?

We need our own snopes for MC. It's unbelievable what people will believe from social media posts.

This! I love Snopes! I know they have a Disney section, but it would be awesome if we had our own. Sadly though it wouldn't stop the misinformation. The Internet is a crazy place.

Here's one of the perpetrators, no thanks to Facebook sharing:

13 Things You Never Knew You Could Do At Disneyland

Usual mix of misinformation, some correct stuff, photos of the wrong parks, out-of-date experiences and poor spelling.

It would be amazing to have a website like that... or a podcast with Disneyland Myth Busters who record themselves trying out all the "tips" in Disneyland and posting video with the results.

    Re: Disneyland Pickle for Politeness

It is definitely not true at ODV, and we never had the latitute to give out free pickles for any reason. However, ODV only sold pickles at the pretzel carts (haven't checked recently to see if they still do or not). The fruit carts are not run by ODV but by restaurants, so those I don't know.
