Just got home from the ceremony to dedicate the Ward Kimball and rededicate the Lilly Belle.
At 8:09am the Ward Kimball pulled into New Orleans Station pulling one excursion car and the Lilly Belle. In the excursion car were Matt and a load of the roundhouse crew along with a couple of VIP's. Matt gave a speech followed by a short speech by the son of Ward Kimball. Also present was Ward Kimball's wife. The roundhouse crew then posed for pictures in front of the locomotive while a Dixieland band entertained. Then everyone was allowed to walk through the Lilly Belle ( I even got to exchange a few words with Matt before he had to go do a spot for Cast TV). Everyone exiting the Lilly Belle was given a Ward Kimball locomotive trading card and a special Lilly Belle rededication ticket dated for today with a brief history of the car on the back.....VERY COOL.
Matt was also given an award by the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society.
All said, it was worth staying a couple hours past my shift.
