Re: Will Steve Jobs and George Lucas Update StarTours?

I heard a podcast this weekend with a 1987 interview with George Lucas, where he said that the great thing about this ride, is that it is "software driven", and can easily be updated.

Why can't this happen then-- please?!?

Look how long it took Lucas to finish all the movies for Star Wars. WE are still 10 years away from a star tours 2.0!

Re: Will Steve Jobs and George Lucas Update StarTours?

Lucas is an idiot when it comes to directing his own ideas. He can come up with a good story but for heavens sake let someone else execute it with WAY more talent. It is painfully obvious when he insisted being the director for the new movies compared to the better movies 5 and 6 which he did not direct. He got lucky on the 4th movie because he was still young minded with a vivid imagination and a limited technology which was a good thing or Star Wars would of flopped due to his obsession with saturating everything in digital rendering.

YES!!! , updating startours is a double edged sword , on one hand i'ts old , and needs atl east a technology update , i mean come on. The floruecent painted star speeders are a joke. and on the other hand LUCAS SUCKS. the last 3 starwars movies were the 3 worst movies i have ever seen ever... and i watched Ishtar and Showgirls , heck he did'nt even direct the best starwars movie EmpireStrikesBack. so i say update it , but keep lucas the hell away from it

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet: wasn't the hold-up largely due to Lucas' desire to upgrade and redo the whole ride vehicle? If it were just about programming in a new film, that could have happened by now (pending Lucas' approval), but I thought the better part of the hold-up was due to the need to put in plasma screens and such, which is a major overhaul.

edit: oops, I guess CaliforniaAdventurer did mention it!

They would have to gut the entire attraction. The simulators are out of date and need total replacing. And knowing lucas he would want to gut the queue line too.

Next year would be a good year with the 30 anniversary of Star Wars and Star Wars Celebration 4 in LA. Disney should really consider having Star Wars weekends in Anahiem next year.

It probably wont happen but I would like to see them redo the original movie film (as parts were a little choppy) and finish what they started. Finish the other destinations. I would love to go to Hoth or Endor!
