    Who's in charge here?

With all the recent shakeups I've kinda lost track...

Jobs is on the board of directors, Eisner is out...

Who is responsable for the parks? Is it still CM Matt? Or one of the Pixar guys?

I need a program, ya can't tell the players without a program...

    Re: Who's in charge here?

Matt is still in charge of Disneyland.

Jay is still head of Parks.

    Lassiter is Chief Creative Adviser
    at Imagineering.

Marty Sklar is out as head of Imagineering. He is now an
Imagineering" Ambassador" which is a new positionnot yet with a job description.

Barry Braveman has been laid off.

Only one left to get rid of, Fitzgerald - he who wants all
Imagineering closed down and outsourced to China to save money.

I am betting that Tony Baxter will be back in charge of
    Imagineering things very soon.

What a great time to be a Disney Theme Park Enthusiast!

I don't think that it is worth losing Matt just to get the teacups spinning.

What does Fitzgerald do at Disney?

And if imagineering was outsourced to China, the parks would lack so much that they would end up losing more money then they saved by sending Imagineering to china initially. Not that there is no creative Chinese, I'm not racist or anything! Just cheap labor usualy means a cheap product. And it puts all the current Imagineers out of work...

    Re: Who's in charge here?

Bob Iger is CEO of the company however he isnt "Mister Incharge" like Micheal Eisner was. He doesnt micromange and lets creative people run the creative side of things..smart guy. He also destroyed strategic planning which was responsible for killing alot of great ideas like the fantasy section of Animal Kingdom. Strategic planning is also the reason we got DCA instead of something grand like Westcot. He also has reacquired the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit scoring brownie points with the fans and has shown that he is willing to shake things up and restore the disney magic and the stock has responded favorably as a reward for his good work.

Steve Jobs is on the board of directors and he may become Chariman soon because George Mitchel, the current chairman is retiring this year. Mitchell was Eisner's biggest yes man.

Roy Disney has become Director Emeritus of the company. Basically he acts as an advisor to the company and can come and go as he pleases but he doesnt have any executive powers. But I think if he wants to come to animation and work on pet projects like Fantasia he can.

David Stainton the guy responsible for the decline of disney animation, ending traditional handrawn animation and pumping out cheap sequels to movies that were never meant to have sequels in the first place (like cinderella 2!) was, shall we say "removed". He is being replaced with Dr. Ed Catmull from Pixar who will now run both Pixar and Disney Feature Animation as a combined studio.

John Lasseter is also chief of Disney animation working closely with Dr. Catmull. Lasseter has full green light powers at both Imagineering and animation and reports only to Bob Iger.

Don Hahn, a cool guy who produced alot of the great disney classics during the "renasciance era" (Beauty & The Beast, Roger Rabbit, etc.) is currently Interm President of Animation untill Dr. Catmull can come onboard full time. After that Hahn will probably continue working closely with Lasseter and Ed Catmull on the revival of Disney animation!

Basically John Lasseter is now in charge of Imagineering replacing Marty Sklar. Sklar will remain with the company but instead of running Imagineering he will travel giving speeches and recruiting new talent for Imagineering.

Jay Rasolu is still President of all theme parks & resorts

Matt Ouimet is president of Disneyland

Al Weiss, the president of WDW, has been transfered to another divsion which "oversees" the parks. So WDW currently doesnt have a president.

Lets see. Basically what we are waiting for now aside from the pixar deal wraping up is a few loose ends:

    - The Disney Company needs a President...the person everyone wants is Dick Cook who currently runs Disney Studios. Cook is a great guy who really understands the company.

    - Tom Fitzgerald and Don Goodman must step down at WDI. They killed alot of great projects and really arent creative types. They champion cloning attractions and cardboard cutouts instead of grand rides like Star Tours and Splash Mountain. They are not interested in moving foward and introducing new techonology or anything of the sort. They need to go. It is recommended that Tony Baxter & Wing Chao replace them.

    - Disney also needs to bring back the talent that quit under Eisners oppression when creativity was removed from the company. Im talking about Imagineers like Steve kirk and Bruce Gordon and animators like the Brizzi Brothers. They also need to call back Ron Clements and John Muskers who wrote the scripts for Little Mermaid and Aladin.

    - Walt Disney World needs a president. It is recommended Greg Emmer takes over as Disneyland president and Matt Ouimet move back to florida and clean up WDW. Now that Disneyland is back on track it wont go into despair again. However it isnt critical as long as WDW gets a competent President who understands what Disney quality is all about.

mmm I love happy endings indeed.

I'm just happy for what has the potential to really turn things around. I'll wait patiently for who's who, and what's what.
