    disneyland mpa 1958

    i was looking at this map of disneyland in 1958...obviuosly it's disneyland cause in the bottom corner it say Disneyland anaheim..but i also noticed that there is Liberty Street and Edison square..did those two lands exist? or is this some...concept art or something?

    Those were proposed areas that were never carried forward. Currently those spaces are backstage, and are where the parades end up and start from at the front of the park.

    I've always thought it would have been awesome to have seen those areas built as proposed, but if they had then we probably wouldn't have Space Mountain today, or else a very different configuration for Tomorrowland.

    It might also interest you to know that Liberty Street was the inspiration for WDW Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square, and Edison Square inspired Carousel of Progress (which used to be where Innoventions is in DL's TL, now at MK - for now)...

    And it's also obviously Disneyland because Disneyland in Anaheim was the only Disney park in '58! :-)

    interesting.. you also see submarines in the TL lagoon, and some other stuff... but no matterhorn or monorail... (could this have been when one was approved and notht e other 2?)

    They were also going to be revived in some way for Disney's America, but that park got canned.
