SG and I were at the park last night and were near it's a small world and heard the train whistle so we hurried over to the toontown station thinking we'd miss the train otherwise. We got there and the train hadn't even pulled into the station fully. There was something going on ahead of the train on the tracks. We soon found out that there were some people out on the tracks that weren't supposed to be as the CM told us. The train sat in the station for a while, so after a while we just got off the train and walked to New Orleans Square.

Anyone know any more?

They probably were just doing what they always do at home...Walking along the tracks to get from point A to point B (and probably wearing headphones as well).

It's not rocket science...anyone that wants to walk the tracks can just hop the railing at the station and start walking. I'm not aware of any type of alarm system or cameras that are there to prevent that. And with todays shortage of CM's it's a no-brainer.

Of course when caught, the scofflaws will be ejected from the Park.

Where there is a fun amusement park for everyone to enjoy, there is always going to be someone that feels that the rides and attractions simply aren't good enough. Almost all of the deaths at a Disney park have result from somebody doing something they shouldn't (e.g. standing up on the Matterhorn; climbing along the monorail track). The sorts of people who read the side of medicine bottles and exclaim "Don't take and operate heavy machinery? Nuts to that! Where's my forklift?"

I'm sure in this instance, someone was looking for the restrooms, couldn't find a Cast Member to ask and just hopped on the tracks knowing that they'd take him to some eventually...

However, as you point out, two of these (the Columbia and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad incident - see link) were NOT the fault of the people.

The CM killed in America Sings is not counted in this list, so the tally is up to 10 in that case. There have also been a few recent lawsuits and one in Hong Kong Disneyland to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info, as bad as it is that there have been 10 people killed at DL, only 3 really have been not at fault. I have not read all the details of the other 7.

every year here at Lake Tahoe we have people die doing really stupid things
like jumping into the middle of the lake from a boat drunk. No matter how much we try some people are just to stupid.....
