Re: The White Witch

She's still at WDW in Disney-MGM Studios, doing a nice scene in the Narnia walk-through. I suggest changing you trip to WDW instead of Disneyland just so you can see the White Witch

It's been a while since I read it, but this is what I recall:
Spoiler
The other two reached adulthood and could not return to Narnia.

The book in question is probably "A boy and his horse", the 2nd Narnia book written by C.S. Lewis. It references a dark-skinned group of people known in the Narnian series as "Calormen". The descriptions of the Calormen people are very similar to people from the middle east.

I am sure that Disney will probably produce the entire Narnian series the way that it was originally written in the 1950's.
1. THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE
2. A BOY AND HIS HORSE
3. PRINCE CASPIAN
4. THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TRADER
5. THE SILVER CHAIR
6. THE LAST BATTLE
7. THE MAGICIANS NEPHEW

The Magicians Nephew was written last, but was intended (by C.S. Lewis)to be read first.
Since Disney did not produce The Magicians Nephew first, it stands to reason that they are going to pull a "George Lucas". Release the sequel first and then go back and release the prequel to a new generation that will want to watch the whole series after seeing the prequel.

According to narniaweb.com, Prince Caspian has been given the green light to go ahead with production with a Dec. 2007 release. If anyone would like to read the article, it's at:

Re: The White Witch

There is a possibility of Jadis, the white witch, returning to Disneyland. but when- I wouldn't know. Right now, it is all up in the air.
I heard there were issues with the meet and greet thing, primarily issues with the costume. The head piece supposedly had an off center of axis, thus making it hard of the witch's neck and causing a lot of strained necks. also other issues with the costume were what came up when I asked someone I know in entertainment.
again, this may or may not be the only reason(s). but they said she may be on her way back after they get those things worked out.

Thanks so much for that link! I stand corrected.
I did not know that the Narnia books were not written in the order that Harper-Collins published them. Here is a quote from a sub-article that can be reached thru the link Helios provided:

Quote:

C.S Lewis's famous series of children's stories were published between 1950 and 1956, in the following order:

1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)

2. Prince Caspian(1951)
3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952)
4. The Silver Chair (1953)
5. The Horse and His Boy (1954)
6. The Magicians Nephew(1955)
7. The Last Battle (1956)

All current editions of the books, however, number them in a slightly different order:

1. The Magicians Nephew

2. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
3. The Horse and His Boy
4. Prince Caspian
5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6. The Silver Chair
7. The Last Battle

This order reflects the chronological sequence of events in the books themselves.
Lewis expressed a mild preference for this second, chronological order. In a letter written in 1957 to an American boy named Laurence, he wrote the following:
'I think I agree with your order {i.e. chronological} for reading the books more than with your mother's. The series was not planned beforehand as she thinks. When I wrote The Lion I did not know I was going to write any more. Then I wrote P. Caspian as a sequel and still didn't think there would be any more, and when I had done The Voyage I felt quite sure it would be the last. But I found as I was wrong. So perhaps it does not matter very much in which order anyone read them. I'm not even sure that all the others were written in the same order in which they were published.
Quoted in "Letters to Children"
So apparently, Disney is producing the movies in the order that they were written. I don't know how that will play out for movie-goers, since most people (I think ) like to see their movies in chronolgical order.

Oh well, I'm just glad their making more of the Narnia stories into films.

Thanks again Helios!

Re: The White Witch

So technically speaking, he wrote an original, sequels, midquel, and prequel?

Re: The White Witch

Just got back and noticed a sign for Disnery Villians where the White Which used to be at plus a new mural too. I didn't have my camera with me so I couldn't take a pic of it.

Re: The White Witch

Well, I don't know if the DVD is due out soon, but a fellow Opera House CM told me that someone came up to him a couple of days ago asking for a new map because the White Witch ripped his in half. (Which my friend was appalled by, but which I thought was AWESOME.) It seems that she's back...
