Re: I was gone for a while, and have a questiong about the TL Rocks

They arc around the front of the Astro Orbiter that sits at the entrance of Tomorrowland.

Basically they are a piece of the visual style of Discoveryland. I still believe their function is framing the Astro Oribiter.

I wouldn't have made the connection that they were rocks if I had never been here. What are they suppose to be, rocks from Mars or something?

from what i have heard, they are supposed to be like rock from mars, or at least another alien planet. Now, from what i have heard, they want to take the rocks out and move the rocket jets back on the old people mover roof, even if that means making another rocket jets seeing that i have been told that the one on the ground would be to heavy to be on the peoplemover roof, and i have also heard that they would like to bring the peoplemover back in some form, but don't know when this will happen, but they defiantley want ot remove the rock formations and the jets so that it doesn't bottlneck with the crowds so much.

The crystalline rock formations are intended to give Tomorrowland a timeless and otherworldly appearance. Tony Baxter described them as a "mini-berm" (or proscenium arch/fourth wall) that creates a visual barrier separating the theater of Tomorrowland from the theater of Central Plaza.

I think the rocks and the Astro Orbiter do quite the opposite. The Rocket Jets served as a "weenie", drawing people deep into the World of Tomorrow. The Astro Orbiter & the rocks jut out into the hub, interrupting the peacefulness of the Central Plaza and basically saying "ooooh look at me look at me look at me look at me!!!!"

Lat's not forget the whole guest crush issue.
