    Favorite Jungle Skippers!

Me and my buds from college went to Disneyland during the summer of 05 and had a great time. We went on the Jungle Cruise many times during the day. Two skippers realy stood out. First was Mikey. He had a british accent and cracked everybody up! "The sacraficial alter. It's like a ball pit at chuch e' cheeze but with fire." LOL...awsome! The other was Kyle. He was very animated and gave jungle a young feel "Oh snap!" and "Just keep moving. They can't hit moving targets" He jumped everywhere on the boat! When we got to the backside of water, he said it in like 4 different languages. These two skippers are awsome! I hope there still around!

    Re: Favorite Jungle Sippers!

Mikey is no longer a Jungle Cruise Skipper. Unfortunately
it sounded like he was let go by Disney.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy a tour given by him in
October. British accent, monocule, he was one of my
favorite 3 all time Jungle Cruise Skippers, (alongside
with Maynard and another gal with "Braids", who cracked
us all up ~ she hid during the native attack and came back
up with her braids sticking straight up in the air! hahahah)

Mikey really deserved to stay, and should have even been
put in charge to add new jokes to the cruise! There were
a couple of topics about him at the end of last year. One
even had a link to an audio of Mikey's Jungle Cruise.

I don't remember her name - but I got the whole trip on video. But this girl had the most nasal sound to her voice. I can still remember her saying, "I just saaaaved your life". My kids thought she was a riot.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

    Long live captain Mikey!

In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so.

    Re: Favorite Jungle Skippers!

Well, I don't know Mikey, but I do have a horrible story about a trip on the Jungle Cruise years ago. Back in 2000 my friends and I went to the park to celebrate our birthdays. At around 10 p.m. we were ready to go home - it was November and very cold. Everyone wanted to go on the JC since there was no line. I didn't want to go, but I was coerced.

My friend began flirting with our guide and poking fun at his hat and name (which I can't remember now). Apparently the guide didn't like the advances, and decided to get back at us. When going past the elephant that squirts water, he left us long enough to get squirted - REALLY! I was soaked and it was cold!!! I was so mad. It can be 100 degrees in July and the CM won't let you get wet, yet on this freezing Nov. night he squirted us. I was so angry I wanted to complain, but just decided to go home and forget about it. Obviously I haven't since it's 6 years later and I'm still not over it. LOL

Just wondering if this ever happened to anyone else?

    My favorite is Nick!
Most recently we had, I think, Austin, and he was GREAT! Hilarious! I left him a compliment at City Hall - my first one ever!

I'm sad I never had Mikey

Well, I've only seen that elephant squirt someone once and I *think* it was a accident. It was freakin' hilarious though, the poor girl was shocked! We were all surprised. It's too bad about what happened to your friend though

Dirton, Mikey was my favorite, too. I miss his wacky and unconventional humor on the ride. However, echoing what NNL said, Austin is just as funny and unique as Mikey.

We've had a lot of good ones, and usually when we get a female we roll our eyes... BUT!! Then we had Tiffany! Oh man, she was a riot! Even had my kids cracking up (they are usually rolling their eyes at me laughing at the same cheesy jokes...) I now look for her (only saw her once since.)
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.

Oh no! That sucks! Well I hope Kyle is still there. He was really funny.

    Re: Favorite Jungle Skippers!

I've only met Mikey once, briefly, but Audra, a current skipper who's dating him, has told me a few stories. Apparently he used to do a French accent spiel occasionally, only the French guy loved bamboo, and he would spend the entire ride pointing out all the bamboo. Because of Mikey, the British accent is sacred in the Jungle; skippers have to earn the right to do it.

My friend Greg, quite by accident and as a guest, ended up on some legendary boats, including the one where two skippers had a shoot-out, and their boats ended up nose to nose.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what got him fired. Beware that the funniest spiels are generally the ones you're not allowed to do, so putting audio or video of them on the internet, though you may mean well, is a BAD IDEA.

First Mikey didn't get "fired". Second, that's not the reason he had to leave. But you are correct about posting audio and video of CM's. Disney checks this site for any info concerning the Cast members.

Perhaps it wasn't Mikey, then, but I do remember hearing about a CM who was terminated because management discovered a video online of him doing a non-OG spiel.
