    WHAT in the (Disney) World?

Based on the original WITDW thread, I found a couple pictures that boggled my mind what purpose they served, or what the story was behind what I was seeing. So, I thought this could be a fun thread for us to share images and discuss all the odd little things about DLR.

For openers, here is a weird backstage stairway on the Main St. rooftops, as clearly seen from the Main St. Train Station:

Maybe a CM knows where that goes, and why it's built above the roofline?

I don't have any idea- that part of main street is not used for a lot backstage, at least , I didn't see too much of it while I was there. I do know there is VIP Parade viewing next to the firehouse (on the roof), so maybe it has something to do with that- just a guess.

Well, your guess is better than mine on this one.

Meanwhile, any thoughts on this one? I was going to space these out more, but I'll be out of town for the weekend and figured I would get the ball rolling a bit...

This is south of GCH, as seen from that Redwood Trail area.

Looks like you could put in a few more trees and a themed wall along the path from GCH to the pool, and you could use this for a decent dark ride when they redo Route 66... But is this space used for something already?

Didn't Tinkerbell used to fly there? Could that be how she got down afterwards?

edit: nevermind looked at it again and realized wrong side of main street heh.

Maybe they just need roof access for the main street buildings and that happens to be the access

Tink lands over in an offstage area between Fantasyland and Frontierland.

I can answer the big grassy area behind GCH.... That is the wedding pavillion.

Marcie (mouseinfo's resident company insider, marketing mouth piece) also mentioned when GCH was designed there was room for expansion... Probably into that parking lot (vallet lot, right?) and the wedding pavillion area.

Yep, that's where they hold wedding ceremonies and such. You can actually walk back there when there's not a private party by walking around the back of the Hearthstone Lounge in GCH.

My guess is that's roof access to the top of the Main Street Buildings. Maybe for firework/parade CMs. Could be used for piros for the 50th fireworks show. Could be used to adjust the confetti machines for parades.

Not lands so much, as crashes into a matress covered pole. I have seen it many times

Another great chapter in DL history closed since the new rigging system will bring her back to the matterhorn.
