Have they fixed the GCH?

I haven't heard anything lately about the lobby of the GCH. Have they replaced the bland carpet with a new hand made designed one? Are they going too? Is there any evidence left of the fire? I was there that night and I'm just curious from some of you (lucky dogs) who have been there recently.

Ugh. You had to remind us of that horrible night. I've been trying hard to forget that fire.

They must have, or are planning, to replace it. The official homepage of the Grand Californian shows the original carpet, and that's an updated homepage (the old GCH homepage showed a green background with pictures of the exterior).

I wouldn't think they'd newly promote that lobby area, complete with picture of carpet, front and center, if they weren't planning on repairing/re-installing the original carpet.

That's not a new site - it's for the convention crowd. The Hotel's consumer page is stil the same.

As for the rug, it was going to be replaced with a new carpet (same design) this year anyway as part of the hotel's rehab (everything stays the same, the fittings are just being replaced with newer ones of the same design)

We were there last week but didn't look around for any residual damage or at the carpet, but it all looked great to us. It looked like business as usual.

It's a beautiful hotel!

Just there yesterday.. no noticiable dammage from what I could see.

Cool, it was kinda sad to see the GCH in that condition.
