When is the 50th considered "over"

Has it been a year yet? When is the 50th officially over, or are they gonna keep it going through the summer?

    just wondering

It concludes this fall. So yes, they are going to keep it going through the summer.

Re: When is the 50th considered "over"

I personally consider the 50th to be over on July 16th 2006.

However, the marketing department clearly has lost their calendar and is making up dates. (Is this another example of the American Educational System failure??)

    From the press release*:

©Disneyland Park's 50th Anniversary Celebration will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world.

I guess that settles it. Never...

I thought it was supposed to run for 18 months? Wouldn't that put it until November?

Not soon enough! It's run it's course with me. The only thing I will really miss is Remember: Dreams Come True.

Re: When is the 50th considered "over"

Yeah, I specifically remember Disney touting the celebration as an 18 month affair, which would put it into the Holiday period. Maybe they thought they they might cut it short to separate the 50th from the Holidays???

Either way, it will be busy through the first of the year.

Re: When is the 50th considered "over"

I asked at the disney store today, and the cm said 18 months starting last May so through Dec.

Guess I have an answer to my own question. Seems like it's been going on forever as I remember reading one of the articles that they started it unofficially at the 49th birthday.

    long bday

The official ending date is currently Sunday, October 1st, 2006.

Do not expect to see the Remember Fireworks after that date, and you will see the start of removing all the 50th logo's, etc....

And of course, everything Disney says is subject to change, but the date is important to WDW, so they can start celebrating their 35th anniversary. So I doubt it will be extended.

Re: When is the 50th considered "over"

Hmmm...It should have been Jan. 1, 2005-Dec. 31, 2005...but as long as they are making money...

And if you look at the marketing of it, over the past year, i saw MORE Disneyworld "50th" stuff advertised than Disneyland. Go Figure. Does that mean Disneyland gets another 50th anniversay in 2022?

I think it's absolutely terrible to make the Anniversary go for so long after the July 16th, 2006 date: too me, it's such a shame and a sadness, it's all about the money I can tell ya that.

I think the main reason they schedualed the 50th for so long is that more people could come and be there during the special time..

IMO It should have been July 17, 05 (the actually "offical" anniversay) - July 16th, 05 to make it one full year.
