Question Will they close Disneyland this weekend?

We're planning to go this Saturday. It sounds like Disneyland has been pulling in some big Spring Break crowds and that has me worried that they'll close the gates by noon. Have the crowds really been that big?

If they do close the gates, does anybody know where we can hide in the park and take a nap?

Thanks.

Mike

Re: Will they close Disneyland this weekend?

crowds have been fairly heavy as it is spring break season. (im on spring break and i went on monday woo!) the park always has the potential to be full on days like this, but so long as you go early enough or late enough, it shouldnt be a problem. (avoid the 11-3 pm window)

as far as taking a nap in the park:

my favorite spot is over by the fountain next to the haunted mansion, plenty of shade, moderate noise level, relatively peaceful.

hope this helps.

You could try the Hungry Bear restaurant if it is not open. If it is open you still may be able to find a spot. Really quiet there. Or maybe the Disneyland Railroad. You could nap while riding perhaps. I wish the people movers were still open, that was my favorite place to nap as a kid.

Re: Will they close Disneyland this weekend?

From what I know from WDW - going to first aid and saying flat out you're exhausted, don't feel good, etc.. they'll let you pass out on their "comfy" Dr's office style beds. I've had to do it for a migraine a few times. Not sure if DL has the facilities as wDW does, but it must have something similiar.

And to ease fears, I know DL and WDW don't run an identicle schedule, but they do usually fill up on the busiest days together (based on vacation periods) and a crowd level monitor site ( http://www.touringplans.com/BestDays.htm ) is saying WDW wont be facing phase closure until a week or so from now, for Easter and Spring Break crowds.

I read this as "One place which is dark and not too noisey is the Movie Place that shows Steam Boat Willie and Plane Crazy". The location otherwise known as the Main Street Cinema.

If you bought a ticket in advance and it's full you can still get in right? I would hate to have it planned for 7 months and then by shut out.

Thanks for the translation G... I honestly couldn't figure it out!

I'm not sure, but I think that if the park is full, the park is full. Its a fire marshall/safety issue, no matter how much that might upset guests.

But you're right, it would suck if you'd been planning for months and couldn't get in! The good thing is that even when they close the gates, they're re-opened later in the day.

Um.. no.

Tickets are not for a particular day and capacity is for safety reasons.

I know tickets are not for a particular day. I know that my family and many others here have booked flights and bought their tickets way before they go.

Arrive early at the parks.

Capacity at DL must be increased. This should be a goal of management: to get capacity back to its pre-Pressler amount.

Park closures can and do happen. The Fire Marshall is in control. It actually happens in stages. The first stage is they stop selling new tickets, then they stop allowing new entries, and at a certain number, they stop allowing reentry. Once they close the gates, they will reopen to reentries when the crowd lowers. Generally, the park will completely reopen after 4pm when the crowds thin after the parade. It is completely in the fire marshall's hands. And a side note, the closest DCA came to a capacity crowd was the morning of 7/17/05 with everyone lined up for entrance to Disneyland.
