Darkride voted #1 is not at Disney!!! It's at ...

    http://www.dafe.org/misc/awards.htm

Knoebels Haunted Mansion was voted #1 by over a 3-1 margin over Spiderman.

While I truly enjoyed Knoebels Haunted Mansion and I think it's definitely a unique experience it's just not on the same level as Disney and Universal. Personally I would even take DCA's "Tower Lite" over the Knoebels Haunted House.

    The top 10 list:

    1: Haunted Mansion - Knoebels
    2: Spiderman - IOA
    3: ToT - Disney MGM
    4: Haunted Mansion - Disneyland
5: Haunted Mansion - Magic Kingdom (orlando)
6: Whacky Shack - Waldameer Park
    7: Indiana Jones - Disneyland
    8: Splash Mountain - Disneyland
    9: Haunted House - Funland
10: Pirates of the Carribean - Disneyland

Interesting That ride looks horrible in my opinion, but I guess to each their own. At best it reminds me of a good seasonal haunted house for Halloween.

TOT MGM? Sure it's great, but I don't think people are voting for it based on it's merits as a dark ride.

Polls are usually biased toward the preferences of those who vote.

This particular web site seems centered in the midwest (Ohio and PA). They seem to prefer scary dark rides, and Disney attractions are not all that scary. Great and wonderful works of art: yes.
And, this site was last updated on 3/25/2005. Maybe the date's wrong.

What the heck is Whacky Shack, and why is it above Indy?! BTW...is this only national or is it worldwide? I'm surprised Pooh's Hunny Hunt, JttCotE, and the other Indy did not make the list...

So very true, it's like putting up a poll here as to which is better Disney or (take your pick)?

Like Sediment said - It just depends on whose voting, where they are from, what parks they go to, etc.
Even though that ride looks cheesy, I like those types of rides. They have one at Santa Cruz beach boardwalk that is great. I ride it every time I go there.

Ive seen this on the Travel Channel or someplace and it looks cool, mostly for its kitschy old school charm. It actually looks like something me and my friends would build which is why I guess I find it kinda cool.

I did get video of Knoebels Haunted House last September when we were there.

If anybody wants to host it for me I will break it down to just that segment of the tape and post it.

Like I said, it's a fun ride and definately a unique experience. But it's not really 'scary'.

Um, yeah. However, stating that something is the "Best," based on a poll, is a misuse of statistics, if not accompanied by "based on those who voted, which was biased due to 80% of the those voting living in Pittsburgh, and don't know a good dark ride if it bit them on the arse," or something similar.

Oh my God - they're kidding, right? That poll was done on April 1st, right?

    They'd better be kidding. I think I need a little lie-down...

Wow, the ride's a piece of crap. The effects really look sucky and that dinosaur is REALLY run down...
If that isn't an April Fools prank, then they clearly must have been on pot.

Most of those people have probably never even been to Disneyland or WDW.
