A new dark ride for DCA: Midway Mania

So I was reading Al's update from today and found his reference to a new dark ride that has supposedly been green-lit for DCA:

I'm curious to hear opinions on this concept from all the DCA lovers and haters out there. Personally, I think the addition of a dark ride to the Pier is an excellent idea, but I'm a bit apprehensive about this concept. Doesn't it seem a bit BLAB-esque?

What do you guys think? Any speculations? Things you'd like to see worked into (or out of!) this concept?

I think that the DCA need more dark rides and that the space (location) sounds like a good place for it...... However, I hate the sound/idea of "Midway Mania". Talk about a low concept.

Personally I would have like to see "Goofy's Fun House" or something.

Re: A new dark ride for DCA: Midway Mania

Although I trust Al's sources well enough to think that THAT is what's being worked at
in WDI, I think the concept of dark ride featuring a bunch of Pixar character (w/o any
particular story) is dead. (at least I hope so).... The best dark rides tell a story. And like
the Disney Princess line, there's no easy story that holds the Pixar characters all
together. (Yeah, they can create one I guess).

If WDI want to do something like this, I would suggest a Kingdom of Hearts based
ride. (with internet extensions to the real game!). Also it's easier for the more mainline
Disney characters to do cross-overs than for the Pixar characters. Also it would be different
enough of a concept to allow that...

Completely agree that DCA needs more dark rides and that this is an good place for it.
(Didn't someone have an Ariel ride here in one of their suggestions for DCA?)

Wait...were we not just discussing this in another thread? Wasn't the poster of that thread blasted for the idea of the "rumor"?

    Poor person.

No problem with this type of what seems to be a Buzz Lightyear type of dark ride. However, I'd REALLY like it to NOT be yet another Pixar themed attraction. Dont the Imagineers have any magic left of their own? Must we always rely on Pixar characters for new rides?

So, I get to shoot at the Toy Story characters? Count me in! I got a bullet with that toy cowboy's name on it.

I like the idea of a dark ride but it does bring to mind BLAB. I love BLAB, but it does seem a LITTLE redundant. That's not to say that I won't ride and probably enjoy the hell out of the Midway ride.

Wait, do we shoot good Pixar characters or the evil ones?
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

Not sure,so far (to me) it sounds like you're Woody or Buzz and you shoot targets in
    Andy's (or maybe Sid's room).

On the other hand there's probably a twist that we haven't heard. What we are
hearing about now is really too close/similar to BLAB. (IASW & PotC have
completely different characters and theming although they have the same ride system.)

Re: A new dark ride for DCA: Midway Mania

The person that started the original thread on this topic said the idea was to have an entirely Woody and Co. themed ride meant to look like a midway shooting gallery. That would mean the guests would probably be shooting classic-style targets. This would hopefully replace the midway games they have now.

Hmmm. As long as the ride has photo-realistic blood and gore I'm happy.

But, I probably won't be happy.

I think they should have a dark ride using the "Silly Symphonies" characters. Like placing us in the action of the cartoon. When we come to the part where Mickey leads the symphony we could start twirling around like in a twister with all the characters floating around us. it would tie in with the early days of Disney.

I do like where it is getting place though, built under the coaster in Maliburritos spot.
If WDI did hire those positions this could be coming soon.

I am all for another dark ride coming to DCA, especially in the pier. However I don't like the characters that come with it.
