Haunted Mansion Holiday is a go, but no event

Disney has put up a page confirming that Haunted Mansion Holiday will be up and running this year, but because of the festivities surrounding Pirates, there will be no event.

But I'm sure that won't stop the constant "yes there will be HMH/no there won't be HMH" debates from continuing.

    Here's the link: http://psc.disney.go.com/eventservic...sionevent.html.

At least it is going to be running this year. Does this mean no HMH merchandise like last year too? I like to buy the T-shirt every year.

It's my understanding that there WILL be a HMH and it is scheduled to open on September 28th, one day before the infamous Gumball Rally!

That's correct, there was not a HMH Event last year.

Sorry to hear about no special event for HMH this year too,
but they have had SEVERAL HM events.
It's really time for something else.

Not too big a surprise that the HMH is a go. Iger
said at the stockholders meeting that there was
nothing preventing HMH this year or future years.
And it really is a big draw for the holidays.

Also, as Al mentioned in his most recent update,
Halloween decorations will finally be appearing on
at least Main Street and Frontierland, and the
Jack O'lanterns and Cobweb Candelabras on the
    Haunted Mansion will help, too!

thank goodness they are finally realizing the potential of the huge seasonal event. It is not a holiday, although it should be.

I think that the Mansion will be closed on the 28th. It usually is, but don't quote me for certain. ( I hate to be the bearer of the bad news. )

I wish they would stop putting HMH in the Haunted Mansion and give it its own venue! I will never understand why they ruin the Haunted Mansion for 4-5 months out of the year, year after year, and especially at Halloween. I like HMH, but give it it's own home. People would ride it year round regardless of the season. That or get rid of it entirely, which I'm sure the marketing would never allow. The wear and tear on the venerable Mansion can't be good during these makeovers.

Re: Haunted Mansion Holiday is a go, but no event

It has only been taking about 3 to 4 weeks for take down and install
of HMH.(total time 1 1 /2 to 2 months per year) Any additional time down over the previous years has been for improvements and added new effects, so your 4 to 5 months is quite an exageration.

In fact, with some of the makeovers during the years, other Haunted
Mansion maintainance has been adressed because of the popularity of the HMH. Whereas if the makeovers were not done, it's doubtful that
several maintainance things would not have been done at all.

The 4-5 months includes when it is HMH and not the Haunted Mansion. So that would be September thru at least part of January each year. 4-5 months out of the year merits being it's own attraction and not shutting down one of the Top 10 attractions in the park for such a long period.

With Disney bringing Hallowe'en back to Disneyland, I think that it would be in Disney's best interest to have the original Haunted Mansion up and running through October. Perhaps they could just do the makeover for Christmas like they do for Small World. I would be okay with that.

I agree. Why don't they add the HMH stuff after Halloween? Not enough exposure considering how much time it takes to install?
