    More old Disneyland images. 1972

Recently on a trip over to my moms house, I came across a treasure chest of pictures that my family has taken at the park over the years. I believe the set I am about to show you is from 1972.

I'm sure we all recognize the Plaza Gardens, but look what Pooh is wearing in the above picture. A Uncle Sam hat. To the best of my knowledge the only time there was a Pooh wearing a hat like this was when Disney did the whole 'Pooh in '72'.

On a side note.. I'm glad they redid pooh.. that costume just looks bad.

A shot of the old Alice in Wonderland. Please note the pirate ship and the skyway in the background.

The Dopey outfit from the '70's

Grumpy from the 1970's (looks better than Dopey's outfit)

Pluto in the 1970's (I don't think his outfit has changed that much over the years)

A view of tomorrowland from the Peoplemover. Note there is no Space Mountain in the background.

Another view of Tomorrowland. Look how empty it looks.

The waterfalls for the sub lagoon...this was apparently on the first day they were there, but the next day...

It was empty. Also take note that there are no walls surrounding the lagoon while its drained.

I'll be posting more when I have a chance to check them all out.

    OogieBoogie,
Great pictures!!!! I love the lattice print shirt on that guy. I love the Peoplemovers secretly hiding in all the pictures. Great shots of Alice!!
Pluto looks a little sick in your shots... I have one of Pluto in '78 and he looks much more bright eyed.

I have some from way back too ('66, '74, '78). I posted them in this thread:

Thanks for the great shots!!! I love seeing these!

In this photo .. you gain a little perspective on it, as it is the center fall .. splashing into the Rivers of America.

Yup! You can also barely make out some train tracks in OogieBoogie's photo. These are definitely a great find!

It is funny that I don't remember crowds back then. But it looks like Disneyland has always been crowded

I love the photos. I have seen videos of the old Dopey. He could wiggle his ears!

Those are awesome pics. thank you for sharing!

Oh and yes I like the new pooh better. Though I like the expressions the older pooh could make. Just didn't care for the honey pot on his head.

Yea those Sub photos are rare with the military gray. Love the views from the Peoplemover. Thanks again, Oogie!

You bring up a good point, but I'm not really sure. For one thing, in the picture of the falls on Rivers of America, there are rocks and a second set of falls behind it. In the picture I provided there's nothing really behind it except for trees. Another thing is that the rocks are a different color in both the photos. Also that looks like a employee walkway behind the waterfall and a doorway, I don't think those are train tracks.

If someone can enhance the image, we may be able to figure it out.

    THOSE ARE SO FABULOUS.

I collect old pictures, and I'd kill to get my hands on those. ^^ I love seeing the peoplemover in the very last picture.

Why does Alice in Wonderland look so odd to me? Did it change locations at some point? It's probably in the same place, I'm probably just crazy.

The ride and track are in the same location, same building. The mushroom booth was moved (toward camera) in the redo, and the artificial garden was enhanced with natural trees and plants as well, changing the look of that area considerably. Also, the Mad Hatter shop and Mad Tea Party were not located where they are now. That canopy where the Hatter shop is now was a burger stand.

Note: I always liked the Alice attraction poster on the bookcover sign better than the skimpy painting they have now.

Also note Skull Rock in the distance. I so miss the Pirate Ship and Skull Rock and the Skyway! wouldn't it be fun to time travel?

Ok, I've blown it up here at work and agree with you.. That is the waterfall on the Rivers of America.
