Orlando's looks pretty good- then why does DCA's suck so much!!

^This is Orlando's San Fran area- looks pretty good. DCA should have done something like this.

What are your thoughts- should DCA go this route?

Most of them are empty and just don't have much magic.

Well I know its a backdrop, but I'm just saying for actual looks- it looks really good. And DCA could improve on it- perhaps have the See's company come to one of its stores.

The buildings are nice but the backdrop would make no sense.

With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

So you build a beautiful backdrop and road that makes you really want to explore only to have the disappointing realization nothing is there? DCA has its flaws, but one of the last places to look for correctional advice is Disney-MGM Studios.

Maybe if DCA actually built up the small, insignificant segment of the park that represents San Francisco, this would fit. If DCA adds a significant San Francisco area, maybe those buildings would make sense. Plus, thumbs down on another tacky backdrop.

Lol, well then the only issue would be that no guest would want to climb it.

I do get the background. Because of the laziness factor of people, I'm neutral on it.

The buildings do look quite nice, though.

"Why does DCA's suck so much?" Because most California gals these days are chunkier than that.... Oh, I didn't know you were talking about the background, sorry about that.

The MGM thing is, eh.... I haven't seen the DCA version myself, but at least the Palace of Fine Arts building is a good symbol that is wasted on Golden Dreams. Orlando's,I didn't feel like I was back in SF, even a magically clean and bum-free SF. Where the heck did they pick those phone booths from? Did they think they look like San Francsico public phones?

Now, if Disney really wanted to try something neat in their faux San Francisco (either Orlando or Anaheim), they would put one of the self-cleaning toilets San Francisco installed that got messed over by homeless over there. It's a public toilet that, when you leave, goes ahead and cleans it's inside and is ready for use again in a few minutes.

Yes, it's cheesy, and yes there's quite a few people who have seen them in SF or elsewhere, but it's the kind of Silly Tourist Gimmick that would fly well in a Disney park.

I remember them working on that when we were there last year. It looks good. Better than New York. Or did they change that too?

Um, I've personally never seen those kind of phone booths in SF but whatever.

I believe I've seen them somewhere in the city (Golden Gate Park if I remember right) , But if they really wanted to be authentic.. they would need the smells from Fishermans Wharf when the tide is out, Sea Lions from Pier 39, street merchants and street entertainers galore, homeless in the doorways, and every 30 min or so, have a earthquake.

Looking at the thread name, I thought this was going to be about Tower.

About SF: Maybe DCA's would have been better if they had a little more room.

Maybe if Wescot was built instead. I think Ron Dominguez and team would have done a great job on that park! (But thats an argument for another thread.)
