Decent, sub $100/nite, Hotel close to DLR?

Even though I live within an hour of DLR, I'm considering booking a hotel for next month since I'll be at the park for 3 days and it'll be easier than driving every day (despite doing that when I was a CM!).

Anyways, I've checked several sites and there are many hotels with open rooms for the days I'll be there and some are $100 and some are under $100.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent hotel near the resort? Also, do any aside from the expensive resort hotels have AP rates?

who cares about decent i just stay at the alamo inn or days inn or something on katella/disneyland dr. and spend as little time there as possible =D

Depends on your standards. If you want some kind of chain motel ala Best Western or Comfort Inn then you can do it. If you want a place that will actually make you feel like you're on vacation, you'll have to cough up.

I usually do either the Travelodge on Katella (across from the parking lot behind PPier) or Travelodge on Beach just North of Ball.

The one on Beach is a tad bit less, but a tad bit more of a drive, yet, a tad bit nicer!

If all you're gonna do is sleep and shower... who cares HOW nice the place is?

I should've been more specific. A chain is fine. I'm just talking about a hotel with actual carpet and not dirt floors and no bars on the windows

We have stayed at the following hotels all within the last 2 months.

Crowne Plaza - paid $90 **free large comfortable shuttle every 30 minutes shared with the Hyatt. Very comfortable beds.

Doubletree Orange - $50 Expedia room rate for Friday night. **free shuttle, we were comp'd buffet breakfast. Negatives - parking fee 8.00. Shuttle quit running 15 minutes after official park closing.

Hilton Homewood Suites - $149 Friday room rate. Living room/mini-kitchen with bedroom with double beds. Worked great travelling with kids. Free buffet breakfast. Mon-Thur free light supper. Free parking, on ART J system.

Marriott - Expedia rate $55.00 per room (2 rooms Saturday night). Nice rooms across the hall from each other. Uses ART. Parking fee $18.00 (yikes)

Residence Inn on Harbor. $92/night which includes the killer hot and cold breakfast buffet in the mornings and a "happy hour" with hot and cold food and beverages in the evening. All suites, with a full kitchen and free parking. You share the free (big bus) shuttle with the folks at the Crowne Plaza and the Hyatt.

If you choose one of the cheap ones on Harbor across the Park, just avoid the Castle Inn, unless of course, you like sleeping with rats and on linen stained with an unknown substance. EEEEWWWW!!!

And HoJo's has an AP rate.

I have found tropicanna, park inn anahiem (top floor), and best western to be decent....they have all been around $100.00 whne i stayed. Check out disneyland hotel as well. It was only $129.00 on expedia once time I stayed. then i called for the AP discount and it was $89.00.

Use Priceline. Put in 4 stars, $50 per night and Disneyland area. More times than not you will get the Hyatt in Garden Grove which is a VERY nice hotel.

I agree with sirclinks. Priceline is the way to go! (Although I'm sure he meant 3* since there are no 4* in the disneyland area) Go to www.biddingfortravel.com for hints and tips on priceline, then bid away. You'll never pay more than about $60, and all pretty great hotels!

Castle Inn (Where Im staying this year, 87.00 oer night)
Desert Inn

These are all on Harbor and good clean hotels. Close to the front gate.

i always stay at what used to be the penny slepper , but is now the Quality Inn , it's on manchester St right behind harbor street , i'm paying $65 per night , i'ts close , almost right next to the Ho Jo , i'ts not 5 star , infact i think its like 1/2 star , but i'll only be there to sleep anyway

I'm surprised more people haven't plugged the Howard Johnson's Anaheim. I haven't stayed there, but people rave about it being a great value for the money. If the time of year is right, you can stay at the Candy Cane Inn for about $100, but I think the HoJo is even cheaper, and by all accounts, a nice place to stay.

Yep the Candy Cane is the way to go. If you book far enough in advance you can get under $100/night. But the closer it is to date..the price goes up. And they have had a price increase recently.
