See now I would totally appreciate getting knocked off the track and stuck listening to a captain's spiel. I'd love to hear what a captain would say if they did get derailed into Sweitzer Falls, "And here you have an extremely rare sight... The inside of water!"

To my knowledge, I don't think they ever have. At least not into the falls.

The Jungle Cruise is the greatest... one of my absolute favorites
I can understand the thing about "dead boats" - the last time I went on it I felt as though I was the only one laughing... but I am such a sucker for cheesy jokes, and these ones are so great
I've considered trying to work on it, but it looks like it could be quite difficult over time
And you guys actually control the boats! - must be hard with the spiel and making sure you are at the right place at the right time - I was thinking that it was manually operated, but for some reason there was also a part of me that though it operated on a track

It operates on a track. We only control the throttle.

Of course the jungle cruise river boats aren't on a track, but if they were, one of the few places where it is actually possible to derail would indeed be at Schweitzer Falls if another boat is approaching from the opposite side of the falls and you changed your speed. But, of course, the Jungle Cruise is all real.

I love the jungle cruise! My favorite line is at the end when the skipper says "watch your step and watch your head. And if you miss your step and hit your head watch your language because Disneyland is a family place" Makes me laugh everytime.

If you miss your step and hit your head, watch your language. There are children about. They will probably turn around and correct your pronunciation.

I am ussually the only one laughing when I go on the Jungle Cruise....... I don't understand why people in 90 degree heat with sun stroke and 6 screaming kids have no sense of humor, even if they were mugged in the Mickey and Friends parking structure the night before , those skippers make me wanna take up Trader Sam on his offer and..... Lose my head!!!!!

Had the GRATEST skipper the last time I went. I have this bad habit of saying the punchline with the skipper, (I try to do it quiet, like I just mouth it, or say it to whichever of my kids is sitting next to me) Well, this awesome guy saw me mouthing his lines, so he started making up different stuff to say just to catch me. It was great! I had the best time! I dont' think he was actually making lines up, just grabbing stuff from earlier scripts etc. Like at the totem pole he did the Poke-ohantas one. (A family favorite actually.)

I never realized that the Jungle Cruise Skipper had that many lines. That is a lot of dialogue to remember. I love the ride. I haven't ridden it that many times, but this summer, I hope to ride both the Disneyland Disney World versions.

Believe it or not the OG (operating guide) has over 82 pages of approved spiel. Once you learn all of the jokes it is not that hard to remember lines. For me they just come to you when you see the scenes. Next time your in the jungle look at the hippos on the left side of the pool. A couple of weeks ago a boat derailed and one end of the boat floated over the hippos. The hippos lifted the boat out of the water and it totally derailed. You'll notice that those hippos have no green algee on their heads or ears. It was cleaned off by the hull of the boat. That poor boat bounce back and forth being bounce about by hippos like a pin ball machine. That skipper's nickname is now Six Shot. (The number of shots you fire went you are dead in the water)
