Rockit Mountian Suggestion

I know the topic has been beaten to death but I had a great idea last night during Joe Satriani concert at Celebrity theater in Phoenix. He would be a perfect Rockit mountian Canidate and the song "Surfing with the Alien" Would fit perfectly! Sound effects, tempo, and all.

Maybe next year's Grad Night can have Rockit Mt., the only reason I say this is because I'll be going to grad night 07 and hopefully I'd like to see another big event, as the Subs and Monorail will be up and running then.

There are only 8 grad nights this year... and while I'm stuck going to the very last one on June 22nd, I get to go to one at least =D Hurray! 1 month and 16 days until Rockit Mountain!!! =D

I just couldn't pass at the chance to be a chaparone for my mom's class, out of my concern for the children's safety. And there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing the look of happiness after their graduation thaHAHAHAHA i can't say it with a straight face. I'll be riding rockit mountain all night and morning

i hope it never happens! sure, joe satraini works for you but what about us who think that he (and rock in general) sucks? i say build rockin' roller coaster in DCA and LEAVE SPACE MOUNTAIN ALONE!

I hope Rockit Mountain does end up happening for the general public...I mean all that money and time that was spent on partially upgrading it is just sitting there and waiting.

I listened to the soundtrack and it sounds pretty cool IMO...but I think, since Disney was trying to get away from surf guitar, that it would be better if someone more well-known did the soundtrack. Don't get me wrong...I loved the Dick Dale soundtrack and I listen to it all the time. But maybe the goal was to move away from that and into the more "hip" form of rock.

i can't even begin to imagine what kind of rock would be deemed "hip" by the disney suits.

from a cult/retro perspective, surf music IS and will always be hip. i'm not saying that we necessarily need the dick dale track, but we DEFINITELY don't need joe satriani or van halen or worse..

I hope the whole Rockit Mountain concept is thrown away- its such a dumb idea capacity-wise.

I mean they would have to close Space Mountain down for thirty minutes- and in Disneyland that means disaster.

But....

They (Disney) could do a cool rock concert thing during those thirty minutes and gradualy change the exterior color on Space Mountain to a vibrant green, white, and yellow neon. They could also turn the Rockit Mountain sign on during this time.

Better than 30 minutes of nothing!

Actually the concept is to flip a switch and it changes. The 30 minutes is by not finalizing the concept since you're just going by what Al Lutz said. That's something that disney wouldn't actually ever do for a whole 30 minutes everyday, so it's not really an argument against the concept =D

But this concept will most likely fail if it takes a full 30 minutes to transform Space into Rockit Mountain. It will most likely be around there anyway becaues they would need to go through every rocket vechicle syncing up the new music and what not.

Going through the vehicles isn't the issue.. all the effects and music is computerized and automated... well are supposed to be anyways.. if they're not all automated in the switch then that's the problem they have to fix.

the other problem is people getting in line for space.. and them having to clear those out before switching. but i think that's solvable.. just tell people at a certain point "you're getting in line for rockit mountain now" and when they get to the front of the line, hit the switch. maybe put a small gap or have a CM stand in line as a marker.

I couldn't agree with you more, everything Joe touches is gold, so why not Disney’s Rockit Mountain as well, (if they ever use it.)

actually the concept is to have rock-it mountain just running without the normal space mtn at all... the 30 minute downtime has been known since the rock-it concept was pitched and until they can figure out a way to cut down that 30 minute time they plan on just using either space or rock-it for the entire day... one or the other... the rockets were originally supposed to have 4 different rock soundtracks and they would just choose at rand0m at the start of each ride... apparently the onboard computers don't work quite how they expected and so now there will only be 1 rock soundtrack...

that info is via marcie who works for disney and is a pretty reliable source...
