Could you please stop instructing what people should do/not do on the board? It's really irritating when somebody tries to stop discussion on a discussion board. That's the whole point. If you don't want people to comment, don't post your ideas. This board isn't all about you.

And I know this is probably for your own amusement, and you mean well, but have you even thought about the changes you've considered here? Changing the narration to the ride let alone the stretching portraits? Anything different than Paul Frees' narration and Marc Davis' artwork just wouldn't be the same ride to me, and I imagine a ton of other people. Sometimes less is more, and creating some contrived complicated plot for a 10 minute ride isn't something the Haunted Mansion needs, IMO.

HAUNTED MANSION STORY:

When guests enter the Mansion, they will notice a few more touches in the Foyer of the Haunted Mansion. The wallpaper will be a new version of the old one and a portrait of Constance Boulivere in the middle of the two Strecthing Room doors. The portrait will not change like WDWs, but will just be a picture showcasing the Mistress. The words 'Constance Boulivere' will be stenciled on the top of the photo. The Ghost Host comes on and introduces himself as George (aka the 5th Husband of Constance). He says:

"When hinges creek in doorless chambers and strange and eerie sounds echo through the halls, when ever candle light flickers and the air is deathly still, that is the time with Constance is present, killing her poor partners with ghoulish delight. Welcome Foolish Mortals to the Haunted Mansion, or as some call it, Constance's Manor. I am George, and I will be your ghost host. Please make room for everyone and we shall proceed. And friendly warning, watch out for Constance, for she was known to trick many in her time."

The doors open and inside the Strecthing Gallery we hear George say:

"This use to be Constance's favorite room, as you can tell by the attention to detail she put into it during her time. You can see her various husbands in these portraits, Ambrose, Frank, Marquis, and Reginald."

Above the portraits, the names of Ambrose, Frank, Marquis, and Reginald are clearly stenciled out.

"But Constance had a very weird sense of humor, and when we moved into this house, I was a bit flabbergasted as to why she had these photos up in the Gallery of her previous husbands. So I just assumed I was her 5th husband, and funny thing is, she didn't even seem to try and cover up her past at all. *laugh* And now I know why..."

In the Stretching Portrait Room, the room quickly darkens, and the only light is focusing on the pictures. They begin to stretch and we see the doom of the husbands. Only moments before being covered by the wall, we see that behind the standing husbands, in a corner is Constance, holding behind her a bloody axe- clearly shown in her hands- ready to make her sinister move. She has a Wicked smile. (The photo would use force perspective to hide the drawing of Constance behind the wall.)

A few moments later, George comes back on.

"She killed them! And just for the bloody money. But Constance only had four picture spaces available, so what would she do with me, the 5th? Well she axed me, but not in the head, right in the heart, and hung my body high on the rafters.

Lighting flashes and we see the corpse of George with an axe in his heart. Scene stops abruptly.

"*sigh* Sorry you had to see that, but you simply must know how evil Constance was. My spirit was taken away so quickly from me, I am just sort of 'stucked' in this Mansion. But anyways, let's proceed, and like always, be careful, for many of the 'others' say she still resides her wicked person in this Mansion."

If you weren't done, or had stuff to do before you could finish your thoughts, you should have saved your incomplete thoughts in a Microsoft Word document and finished them later.

Nobody should post anything if they don't want another member to reply. Simple as that.

My Microsoft Word is broken right now and MC (on this computer) is the only thing I can save it on.

Get a blog and save your thoughts there. Xanga is a pretty easy one to use.

I feel like I'm reading so many excuses, with so little truth sometimes.

My thesis was already saved on the family computer, but I like using my room computer for MC.

Is that a problem?

And like I said, my Word document is screwed up right now becaue its like 'locking' me out- so I have to use my family computer. Why am I even telling you this?

You give too much away too soon. It doesn't seem that there could be much Mystery left about Constance and her husbands left to tell after this scene. Also, George seems to talk alot, as in too much for the time they have in the lapse of the scenes the way they are currently programed.

My advice, let the ride tell the story, not the preshow. That's what you seem to be doing at the moment. Also, don't go into so much detail. I relaise you're trying to tie everything together so it all makes sense, so detail is necessary, but it's very cluttered right now and it seems like the ride would just rehash this and it would be very boring. Explain Constance and what she did later; let the Gallery be foreshadowing.

what would make this "official" storyline really fly would be to add some elements from the movie! throw in....i dunno 2 eddie murphy AAs within the attraction. I know in the movie master gracey wants his wife, but for this storyline we'll switch that up, connie wants eddie (as her next husband). but only add eddie murphy AAs, the wife and kids in the movie were annoying. (you can come up with another "offical storyline" thread as to what went down with them) Add connie portaits throughout the ride...in the hallways...in the ballroom...outside in the que line. Also on the tech side...the doombuggies need to be more tricked out. A new bumpin sound system would rock! And some spinning rims...the kids like that these days. Also the music needs an update. Grim Grinning Ghosts remixed techno style.

THEN built up some suspense by covering the new changes in purple sheets for about a month.(these sheets can then be sold at an exclusive AP event, but thats another thread).

Or maybe not?? I think its a smashing idea!
