What color is the redheads dress in POTC??

So, my sil is making the redheads dress for Halloween and is stuck on the color. We have pulled up sooo many pictures on the internet.
Because the bottom of the dress is in a satin like material and has a sheen it photographs weird. We all thought the dress was red, but then when you look at the pictures it looks pink.
I know the ride is closed right now, but does anyone know what color that dress is.

the satin part appears to be pink and the bodice part looks like a dark reddish pink...maroon.

I looked in a few disney books I have..

I'm pretty sure it's more of an orangey-red. Like a faded red, almost. I'm almost positive it is NOT the hot pink it appears to be.

some camer flash wll add blue color to the photo. so dress may be a darker pink. So with out a color chart
you do not know what color you are seeing.

Actually, she has set up a website so we could watch her progress and give input. The site name is www.wewantstheredhead.com

Right now she is still making the pattern so she will probably not have any pictures up until about June.

She is also making her hubby's costume he will either be the auctioner or the pirate that holds the rope.

I guess we are not the only ones who could not figure out what color the dress is.

IMO, she should go with the Auctioneer. Much more recognizable/iconic, and completes the "scene" being set by being the redhead. Being the guy with the rope would be like being Minnie and Pluto. You can still get it and pull it off great, but Mickey would make it seem much more complete.

IMO ofcourse.

If you are going to make a dress, I would go with a wine color. It is a little darker then what it seen in the picture, but the picture was probably taken with a flash, under normal atmosphere lighting, the dress appears to be more of a wine color.

yup, when i took the pic i used my flash. no way was i gonna be shy with it being the last trip on pirates for a few months. so like people are saying, i'd go with a burgundy/maroon/wine color. not fire engine or cherry red.

The dress is magenta velvet on the bodice and ruby red satin on the skirt and sleeves.
