Has to do with the person you are and what you value and you think is right and wrong.

Do we always have to state the obvious? Of course it's not just teens, but it's fact that the average age of vandals is 17-18. The motive is the need to prove something. This is not unique to gang members, and graffiti at Disneyland will most likely not be done by a gang affiliate.

I've never felt the need to cause trouble or deface property, but that doesn't mean people my age don't do it. I never understood that reasoning. The fact that YOU don't do something is rarely relevant.

Good point! Power 106 perhaps but definitely not KIIS FM.

I go about once or twice every two weeks, and rarely see any "gangstas" there. I've seen people tag up places in Disneyland too. Strangely enough, when I go, I always see young OC kids doing just as much if not more harm than "poorer" kids.

Personally, I think it's a teenage thing. Get enough teens together in one place, and something is going to happen. It's inevitable.
Huge problem?! Wha? Where are your sources from? The last time I was there I wasn't afraid to get mugged or anything. Do the gift shops have to pay for "protection"?

What's up with seperating poor kids from rich/moderate income kids? And why do you care how much money a vandal has?

"going to happen", eh? No matter what? Uh, don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty sure a lot of teens go to the park during the summer.....does that mean fights start up and grafitti appear every day?

I think that was sarcasm. He was saying gangs really don't seem to be an issue at Disneyland nowadays.
In the 90s they did monitor and ban groups and individuals in attire they deemed to be gang wear though.

Oh sure, there are few if any, but we are discussing a particular day 12 years ago where it was rumored to be "gang day".

    Gangs don't go to Disneyland.

    They go to Six Flags.

They pull people out of their cars while in line to get into the parking lot and beat them up.

Apparently Six Flags will be catering to them and renting recruitment kiosks for 25 cents a day.

I was still acting like a Power Ranger in '94 so I'll take your word for it

Wasn't at the park that day, BUT I do know someone
who was at DL with his family that day. He said the
the radio station made the mistake by saying Anyone
in a costume would be let in free, BUT the radio station
was suppose to specify that it was only for a limited
number of people, (although I don't recall the exact
number that it was suppose to be limited to. (something
    less than 1,000.

My friend was their with his wife, kids and his parents,
There were MANY people at the gates in costume
insisting on being let in free. And they were let in free,
partly in order to try and avoid bad p.r. and avoid
    possible rioting.

As the gangs grew in numbers, regular families felt
very uncomfortable, unsafe, threatened, and started
leaving DL. My friend family wanted to back to their
hotel room early afternoon, and they all did, except
my friend. He wanted to see 1st hand, how this day
would end, but by about 4 or 5 pm, he really didn't
feel safe either and left DL. He did mention uniformed
police were brought into DL because of the obvious
    threat.
