    Driving directions from Phoenix

Mice chatters please help me out with this. When we drive to the park we take the I-10 to the CA 60, then switch to the 91 and finally the 57. A friend of mine says that if you take the I-10 to the 91 (skipping the 60), then to the 57, it is actually faster because there are more freeway lanes, you have less freeway hopping and you do not have to do 'windy roads'.

We are returning to the park on Sunday so I want to hear from the 'Mice Chat experts' which way you think is best.

    Thanks in advance

P.S. There are usually 3 or more of us in a vehicle.

    Re: Driving directions from Phoenix

10-91-57 sounds like a good idea. OR, you can do 10-91-5, which drops you on the 5 just a few miles north of Disneyland.

OR, if you make it in during daylight hours, 10-91, get off at Harbor, go to the north side of the freeway, and in the big shopping center ahead on the right somewhere (I think the cross street is Chapman?) you will find the Character Warehouse. Shop, then take Harbor Blvd south about 5 miles to the park.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

The 91 freeway is a bad choice!I speak from experience. Your best bet is to take the 10east to 57south. Avoid the 91 at all costs. The 91 ALWAYS has traffic on it, especially in the Corona area.

    Re: Driving directions from Phoenix

This is the way I recommend, and a lot of it has carpools...

Take the 10 all the way to the 57, which is past Ontario and Pomona. Use the Carpool lanes on the 10, but keep an eye out for where you have to merge onto the regaular lanes to get on the 57. You can't miss the 57, it is the EXTREMELY tall bridge that goes over the 10.

Take the 57 to Ball Road, but be careful, as the freeway merges with the 60 for a few miles (Just follow the signs), once you get past the 60 merge point, the carpool lane will be available for you again. (FYI, in SoCal, 2 people qualifies you for the Carpool lane). You can get off at Ball, Katella or take the 57 all the way to the 22 Freeway and Harbor Blvd, they all end up with about the same amount of City Streets, the Harbor Blvd choice is good if your hotel is in Garden Grove.

I agree with avoiding the 91!!!

Uh I made it in an hour from here in Redlands on Sunday and I left around 9:30AM and got there a little before 10:30 and the traffic was nowhere near bad. Of course I did leave later to purposely avoid the traffic, which can be hell as with all SoCal freeways! It did slow down a bit around Corona, but I never dropped below 60.

You have to actually get The 215 from The 10 to get to The 91, and I usually take the 57 and get off on Katella.

Dear god skip the 60 :P there's construction there's small twists, you have to go through that windy mountain area. it's not worth it. i actually tried that route for the first time last time i went. Horrible. Not that the 91 is any better. You can just keep on the 10 until you hit the 215 so you can get to the 91 from it. Riverside can still get trafficy. Unfortunately it's about the same tradeoff if you try anything else. Yeah there might be less traffic if you keep going to the 15 or the 57, but it's more mileage and it's really up in the air which goes faster.

Yeah dude, you were on the 91 on a sunday morning. There aren't many cars on the 91 or any freeway for that matter on a sunday morning. Try that drive again on a friday or saturday and you'll see what I mean.

I did the same on Friday and it was just fine. I regularly take this route (but get off Ball, not Katella if you want to avoid traffic) and only have minor slow down. The 91 is not all that bad.

My advice is to avoid the 91 if at all possible! It really is horrible and so un-predictable. If you have to though, look out for garage doors!

Another reason to avoid the 91, it doesn't have Carpool lanes.

The 91 does have some special "Express Lanes", BUT you MUST have a FasTrak transponder with money on deposit to use it. It is not a toll road with toll booths, ONLY those who have joined the FasTrak program can use it.

    http://www.91expresslanes.com/

Once again, the route that is simple, easy, the SHORTEST and has most of the trip in the LA/Orange County area on CarPool lanes is the I-10 to the I-57 to Anaheim.

Hmm... I guess it's a matter of what you feel like that day. I believe the 91 will get you there faster with less mileage on a smooth day. It has the tendancy to get backed up, but I still think it's faster than straight to the 57. I'm interested to hear what Darkbeer thinks...
