    Re: Disneyland... After Dark!

I feel a little out of my league here, but here goes...from April 2006....

Question...if you use the small tripod, set on trash can, and if you're 6'4" like I am...will most people be willing to give you some room on a crowded night if you know what I mean...? Other suggestions?

I've got an Olympus FE-100 4.0. Is my "night scene" setting similar to the "fireworks" setting?

Disneyland is especially magical after dark...But even though Fantasmic is great I do miss the late night cruises on the Mark Twain...the now-unfortunately-defunct burning settlers cabin was quite a sight going around the bend...

    Thanks for the great photos!

i really like this one , also , the trick at night is to NOT use the flash , most digital cameras now have a shutter speed setting for low light , that's what i use

I just got a new digital camera and have been playing with the night settings. The fireworks setting is nice. I haven't had much reason to use it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

THANKS for bringing this thread back.
I LOVED the pictures....REALLY took me back to the Happiest Place on Earth. I agree...Disneyland after dark is the best!

The lights, the colors...the Tiki gods are really at their best after dark...as is the Haunted Mansion.

    Oh I love it.

Hey, if they're in focus, they're gravy. We all know how hard it is to take night shots, digital or film camera.

If it's a problem, I would consider waiting until after the fireworks and Fantasmics are over. People tend to clear out pretty quickly after that, and space doesn't seem to be much of an issue then.

I'm not sure, but it's possible. As someone else said, the pictures come out better when there's no flash. The flash does put everything in focus, but it can throw off the color timing and wash out the background. Longer exposures tend to have better color-correctness. You just have to keep them really still.

I thought I'd chime in...I love taking pictures of the DLR at night...here's some of mine...
The Astro Orbitor (it's supposed to look like this)

    Tomorrowland and Matterhorn

    Carousel

I happened to take a picture of Splash Mountain right as the on ride flash went off...

    The Matterhorn

and the falls at Grizzley River Run...

Hope you guys like them...they are a little grainy but these are my favorites that I have taken.
