Grist for the Disneyland rumor mill...

I had conversations with 2 different CM's from different areas of the Park last weekend and they both said that Alladins Oasis is closed because Matt Ouimet is planning on bringing back the Tahitian Terrace.

One of them also said that he wants to:

1. Bring back the Skyway (including routing it to DCA after it leaves Tomorrowland, but that he's concerned about running the Skyway over the backstage area)

OR

2. Turn the Fantasyland Skyway Chalet into a wedding chapel.

3. Bring back the PeopleMover by 2010.

4. Make some changes to Innoventions.

That should be enough grist for the rumor mill for a couple of days...

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm not holding my breath for any of these. I had a CM tell me that the new Space Mountain would have a loop.

I'd love to see the Skyway back...although that might be because I never got to ride it It looks terribly fun, though...this summer I'm going to ride the one at the San Diego Zoo. But anyway, if the possibility to hook it up with DCA exists, I wonder if anyone can pull up an overhead view map to look at this? But, if it doesn't work out, a wedding chapel sounds absolutely adorable

Amen to the Tahitian Terrace! Now I'm not so upset that Bengal BBQ is leaving. The exotic and *gasp* healthy food will be available in a larger area, with quality entertainment.

I can't wait to hear more plans for PM. So many choices...the possibilities are endless!

And it's nice to hear that he recognizes that Innoventions needs some...er...adjustment.

If they do a skyway between the Tomorrowland skyway building and DCA, they can still use the Fantasyland skyway building for a wedding chapel.

I don't by the whole Skyway thing. That would include all new equipment, ripping the holes back into the Matterhorn, etc. And for what exactly? So many complain about Disney's loss of showmanship or the lack of a berm in DCA, yet want something back that lets you see backstage and Anaheim?

If he got it from two different sources then at least it is a rumor that is part of the collective mindset of Disneyland.

The same thing happened when I worked at Disney MGM Studios. Lots of rumors about programing the Tower of Terror so that no two drops would ever be the same. It never happened, but we got 4 drop sequences that are random.

So lots of rumors may be exagerated, but the fun thing is to look for an element of truth. Most rumors have an element of truth.

Funny you should mention the tunnels T-Gel, I finally saw (from the Monorail) the tunnel that connects DCA to Disneyland. It's big enough to drive a truck thru.

I really hate to burst your bubble here, but...

Aladdin's was shut down by the Fire Marshal due to a lack of exits. There is only one emergency exit from the area, and they had to shut it down until Disney makes the required code changes.
