    New Indy Queue?

So yesterday afternoon I saw a plaid escorting the Imaginear who designed the queue for the Expedition Everest through the queue at the Temple of the Forbidden Eye and was talking to Cast Members (including myself) about the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of our current queue. Couple that with the rumors that the Fastpasses are not going to be in our budget anymore and we are somewhat hopeful that our attraction queue will be receiving a makeover. Here's hoping.
Tourists. Why'd it have to be tourists?

What type of makeover? Will the queue stay basically the same except for removal of Fastpass. I'm up for it if they do decide to take it out. I heard that the reason the lines are so long is because of Fastpass since they take in way more Fastpass guests for every standby guest.

The Indy queue is as much an attraction as the ride itself.

I hardly see why it needs a "makeover"

    Hmm..

I like the fast passes... but, that's probably because I'm a big user of them... and I hate waiting!

I agree. I wonder if they are simply adjusting some parts so that the standby line can fill up the whole temple? I doubt they will be adding or changing major parts of the queue.

I hope they're just adjusting some parts - or maybe adding even more themed "artifacts" and whatnot.

Also, since the FastPass merges with Stand-By at the entrance to the temple, the line already does "fill up" the whole temple. They hold the line back a bit so the line goes a bit quicker once you're inside the temple, if that's what you're talking about...

I think they should add a few more things to play with in the line... like that rope you can pull and you can hear someone down that well or what ever it is.

haha I know! I really take advantage of them I suppose it could get out of control and more people would be waiting in the fp line then in the regular stand by line... but, they should just adjust the times and not give so many... rather than do away with all of it!

I'll echo what MasterGracey said, the INDY queue is as much an attraction as the ride itself.

Go ahead and yank Fastpass, but please don't mess with the queue too much.

    Re: New Indy Queue?

If anything, the walk-through portion of the attraction may be redesigned to better accommodate the FastPass system. Of all the attractions, Indiana Jones Adventure always had the most difficulty configuring separate queues for FastPass users and for those guests choosing to wait stand-by.

Every time I visit, there seems to be a new configuration, and I know staffing a position that exists solely to stop guests so that they watch the newsreel has to bother management.

Incidentally, FastPass tickets, in my opinion, were one of the only good things to come from Paul Pressler's time at Disneyland. The system can, of course, be improved, though, but I would be among those complaining if the service were ever to be removed from Indy.

The problem is that it makes the normal wait incredibly longer than it needs to be. AND, if everyone has fastpass, they are out in the park and not in a line. While this is good for retail and food, it also means heavily crowded walkways and flustered people. With the park being filled to the brim, they figure if half those people are waiting in line, the crowds outside are much more managable and restraunts can keep up.

Also, many of these rides were not designed for Fast Pass. So what happens is the standby get to stand and watch the fastpass people cut ahead and there has even been many arguements/fights broken out because of the injustice. I know I hated waiting for hours on Space to see countless chunks of people walking on ahead of me. I know why, but still kinda makes me tiffed.

IMHO the rides move faster overall without FP. No starting and stopping, and many ques such as Splash have an entire side of the line closed for FP. With that gone, the que can go back to two lines to shorten it up a bit.

    Re: New Indy Queue?

I'd like to see them find a way to slow down the line without creating a longer wait time. After they added fast pass, they made it so that most of the waiting is outside before entering the temple, bypassing most of the more interesting ride bits.

The indy line is one of the best, but unless the line is really slow, most people don't get to appreciate it. if you could give people the chance to be in line and interact with the line without making un-neccesary wait it would be great.

Maybe they could reverse the 2 parts, and allow guests to play through the current entrance line, and make the exit the entrance. then guests could play with the effects and enjoy walking off of the ride more.

I agree 100% and hope they do something similar with the new Nemo sub ride. Part of the fun of some of my favorite rides are the ques and I wish they would keep that in mind when they refurb/create rides. Disney sets itself apart from other theme/amusement parks with their attention to detail and I really hope they don't lose sight of that.
