Alright i was listening to "A Musical History of Disneyland" today and on the Splash Mountain song after you come out of the laughing place there is a song that on the cd thats not featured on the ride. Its before you come up to the vultures i belief its supposed to be his mother

I've heard of this before (I think it was mentioned in the past on this board), and if memory serves correctly, it's either used in WDW, or was planned to be used but ended up getting the axe.

Correct...(at least from what I have learned from these boards)...the song was supposed to be used originally but because of the speed of the ride thru that area and the slowness of the song, it was givien the axe. I guess they thought that it brought down the storyline too much.

I think I heard somewhere that it WAS actually in the ride itself at one point, for the first week or so, but I can't be sure, I don't really have anything to confirm or deny this. Anyone? ^^;

I just checked and saw that in an interview, Randy Thornton, who put the set together, said the song Sooner or Later was used during the lift hill for a short time before being shelved.

I believe I've read on these boards once before that "Sooner or Later" was used for some time after the ride's opening but was later changed becuase Imagineering felt the tone needed to be a bit more ominous as you're approaching the big drop. I think the debate was that "Sooner or Later" was just too jazzy and anti-climactic right before the big plunge into the Briar Patch.
