Be totally content that they did not just junk them. They work really well, with few changes, in Splash and Star Tours. You did know that the robots in the Queue line, the two that talk to you, used to be geese in America Sings? Look a them. They just had their feathers plucked and skin removed. What you are seeing it the insides of a real A/A figure with a few additions. Look at the feet (they are still goose feet), and the tail.

Re: And now... America Sings!!! Images from 1976

A few of you have asked to see the blurry shots.. here are the ones that I can make out. There are a few more that were not scanned even though they were in with the America Sings stuff.. we still couldn't make out what they were....

Taken from the back row.. the start of America Sings. My sister in law scanned this slide backwards so Sam should be on the right.

The final song for the 'The West' segment. A dog/cowboy came out and sang 'Home on the Range'.

The geese quartet from 'The South'. Image is reversed here as well. They appeared on the left side of the stage, not the right.

I didn't know that! I knew that most of them went into Splash Mountain but not they two of them were now robots in Star Tours.

I loved that show. I am so old. It boogles my mind when I read that some of you never saw this. You missed so much And before that there was the GE theater which I loved and was sad to see go.

Great photos by the way. Can't beat the old slides for clarity. My Dad took hundreds of slides when he and Mom went on vacation, but he didn't take any at Disneyland. I guess it was because we went every year (lived in Los Angeles at the time) and he only took photos of the faraway places. Rats.

Great pictures! I have a lot of happy memories of this show from childhood, and it's good to show the young folks that the animatronics they all love from Splash Mountain started elsewhere!!!

America Sings was unique to Disneyland, right? If so, were all the AAs recreated to populate the Splash Mountains in the other theme parks?

(not to mention Star Tours geese)

oh yeah , i forgot about those... of course they are quite diffrent , but the Splash figures , are almost unchanged , even their costumes look the same. Have any other AA's been switched , any pirates become ghosts , or vice versa?

Great photos, Oogie. I'm sorry I don't remember ever seeing it. They took it out when I was 5. I wish I could see it again. But it's nice to know about those naked geese in Star Tours! I'll have to listen to the soundtrack soon.
