Question Question regarding rush hour traffic

Question: How long does it take to get from Disneyland to Santa Monica (arriving before 10am) on a Monday (in August)?

I have traveled the route many times before, and I know that the legnth of time varies greatly by time of day.

Thanks so much (in advance) for your answers.

Re: Question regarding rush hour traffic

Since Rush Hour in SoCal is pretty much from 6am to 9pm it could take awhile.

It could take 30 minutes, it could take 2 hours.

If you are using Carpool take the 5 north to the 91 west to the 110 north to the 105 west. That will put you right below LAX. You will be in steady traffic from there to the 10 but you will be able to use Carpool on the 5, 91 and 105. Don't get in the carpool lane on the 110 since you are only on that freeway for I think 3 or 4 miles.

This is an accurate and/or precise statement.
There are about 10 ways to go from DL to SM. And five will suck. The exact five will not be known until that day.

I suggest going to SM the night before, since I would recommend leaving at about 6AM or so otherwise.
Especially if that time you mention must be met.

Another option I like, 5 north to the 91 west to the 605 north for a few miles, then the 105 west to the 405 north.

The 105 seems to be lighter most of the time, and has carpool lanes, so you should save some time than saying on the 91.

Just like the 110, on the 605 you will use regular lanes.

And another bonus, the 405 has opened up a few more miles of carpool lanes north of LAX last week. It doesn't go all the way to the 10 yet, but you can see they are working on that segment next. But I would try and merge as fast as possible to the left lane when you get on the 405.

From Santa Monica, if you leave at 8:30 a.m. you should be safe getting there by 10 a.m. But as sediment said, you always run the risk of pick the worst freeway that will be dead stopped. I always take the 405 to the 10 to the 5, but I usually go earlier. I still think 8:30a.m. would be a pretty safe bet though, even including the time to get from your car to the front gate.

    EDIT: Oh

I also know that the 105 ends VERY close to the 5 ... I just haven't taken the 105 to the end or been able to figure at just what street to take from the 5 to get to the 105.

    If that makes sense.

Re: Question regarding rush hour traffic

    Great info.

On one hand if I leave the night before I know I wont have a traffic problem, on the other hand if I stay at Disneyland I can stay at the parks as late as possible and not have to worry about driving anywhere that night!

I guess I am leaning towards leaving the night before.
