Exclamation Should Disneyland try to Replicate the Voice of Thurl Ravenscroft?

As a kid Thurl was everywhere in the park. His voice was awesome on the train. I was wondering if they could find a new person that has a similar voice to him. I know there are people because if you listen to Sean Noori on the radio his introducer has the same type of voice, really deep. It would be cool to imitate his voice around the park like it used to be instead of having this happy happy guy come on the speaker like on the tram.

I agree. Thurl had the best voice. When I worked on the steam trains, I never got tired of listening to Thurl's spiel. Check out his website: http://members.aol.com/allthurl/thurl2.htm

Yes he was the voice of Tony the Tiger but have you seen new commercials for Frosted Flakes within a 2 year period? From my understanding is they are all re runs of Thurl.

If you guys had a choice, where would you add this new voice? Personally I would replace the tram and the train first then implement it into the general voice of Disneyland. Me personally the guy who does the voice for the trams drives me crazy.

Isn't he also in the Disney movie commercials? He is utterly obnoxious on those.

The voice on the movie trailers is the same as the Disneyland Monorail. The WDW Monorails have a guy who is less annoying although I can't seem to find a clip of him.

If I'm not mistaken, the voice on the trams belongs to Corey Burton who is brilliant. But, the tram may not be the best showcase for his talents. His voice is pleasant and professional in those recordings, but the spiel definitely has some problems in the way that it's written.

The new show narration for the Disneyland Railroad, though, has ruined the attraction. The script is unbelievably bad, and the performance of the voice-over actor is even worse.

Disney has pieced together various recordings of Thurl Ravenscroft to create newer show narrations in the past, so that method is a possibility. And, I do think that the warmth and sincerity of his voice and that of Jack Wagner should be the goal in the casting of any new talent.

The grandfatherliness of their voices was tremendously effective.

I intensely dislike the performances of the person who replaced Jack Wagner, though. He always sounds as if he is trying to force a smile into his voice, and the effect is one of insincerity.

We should have R. Lee Ermy do the trams.

(In my best Ermy voice) All right dirt bags get in the trams and keep your carcuses seated at all times you no good slime maggots!

Okay but seriously if they can pull of using old Ravenscroft voice files without making it seem edited, it would be interesting. I love his deep voice. If I am correct he was also in the Mellomen right?

Thurl was great, but it's time for a change. I agree the new train narration sucks beyond belief. I was trying to think in my head who would offer up a great new sound throughout the parks for narration.

Wilford Brimley pretty much is the only man whom I would trust. He is a no-nonsense kind of guy and it really reflects within his voice. I love him.

He would be like "thanks for visiting Disneyland God Damnit." "Oh, and make sure you eat your oatmeal".
