Interesting, the people who claim that they are tollerant of others and their opinions, and stress that society should be just as tollerant, often are the least intollerant when someone else does not have the same lookout on life as they do.

I've heard (well, read) this argument before. It goes something like this: Bigot spouts something racist, homophobic, or misogynistic. Offended party says, "Hey, shut up!," or some such. Bigot claims to be a victim of intolerance.

I would say most of then are...as far as being able to read and write english...which is why there are spanish spiels and spanish on alot of written documents now.

I think your definition of the word "illiterate" is different than the actual definition, which is the one we should assume the writer of the, um, Thoughts was using.

I'm 43, and while more Spanish is being used in safety spiels at Disneyland in the last few years, I can also vouch for the fact that most government documents I've ever dealt with have been available in Spanish.

Of course, I'm a native Californian liberal.

It's just difficult to watch people make such close minded claims. (the article and especially Fox News commentary.) They're entitled to their opinion, however, I don't have to like it... but then again... thats just MY opinion.
