Re: Sleeping Beauty's Castle: Then and Now

Bring back the blue and grey! I get some weird looks from my co-workers when I'm on the internet and a bright pink castle happens to be on the screen. j/k. Honestly, I've always thought the blue/grey was a lot better. I dunno....there's something about the color Blue that is just so....Disneyland.....perhaps I went through the Tron tunnel one too many times.

Like what Disney Dreamer posted. New paint job, no bling. The old paint job made the castle look faded and old. But I guess that was part of the forced perspective??

Personally I think they should get rid of the bunting and the crowns (although I love them) All the 'bling' was for the 50th, it would make it less special if it was always there. However, I do like the pant job. Makes the castle stand out more. Though I love what they did in Hong Kong and they have baby strobe lights all over the castle that make it sparkle w/ 'magic' all day. It's pretty cool. They should do that!

I think they need to knock down the specular on the stone work. It looks plastic. And I agree with nearly everyone, they need to loose the crowns and the excessive bling bling.

    I concur.

I'm wondering if they have plans to drape the "lady" in "Year Of A Million Dreams" or whatever it is, stuff. To anyone in management lurking on this board...please don't. And you could also put the kibosh on the "million golden Oswallds" around the park idea as well...

I was just about to make some joke about hearing that you'd be receiving WDW's 25th overlay, but I see I was beat to it.

I'm so glad that horrid affair is behind us. I'm not sure who was responsible for it, but I hope he was fired.

    Random fact for you all...

The gold paint and in the pink paint as well... it's 24 karat. That's right, it's REAL gold! That's why the pink part of the castle seems to shimmer and the gold part is so bright. One heck of an expensive paint job, if you ask me.

That picture looks kind of weird. The gold looks too yellow.....

I personally think that it should be left like that, and remove everything that has to do with the 50th. (crowns, drapes, etc.) altough I love it, as someone already said before, it wouldn't be so special if it were there always.
